I was messing around with some heat shrink tuping and made a couple of battery mods that work surprisingly well.

I used heat shrink tubing from Harbor Freight
- Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

a battery connector. In this case a 808-D/901 connector from madvapes

The center post from an old cartomizer

a small piece of 3/8" pex pipe for the battery connector to fit into.

A thumb tack

a thin sheet of brass cut into strips

an old spring I had laying around

and something to mold the heat shrink tubing to the proper size. for the 18650 battery, I used 1/2" copper endcaps for the ends, for the 14500 I used a regular AA battery and carefully heated the tubing around it.

I am still playing around with the switch placement. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I made up a couple more based on the switch being on top and I like the form factor better. the button is easier to push and they fit easier in the hand. I used a plastic tube on the 14500 battery one, it makes the battery easier to replace. I wonder if I can charge it while still in the case? The 18650 I used a mechanical switch at the top to see if I liked it, but it makes the mod bigger, not sure if i like it. I am still looking for a cleaner looking button.
I ordered some 10440 batts from Madvapes and am planning on making a teeny tiny mod with those. It won't last long but will fit discreetly in a pocket.
I like the size and weight compared to the other mods I have made (flashlight , fog log and nicostick) not to mention how easy and quick it is to make.
Sorry for the fuzzy pic. I put a 808 battery in the pic for size comparison.
