Better, but clicky pens are too thin gauge and do have resistance. Plus they are compression springs and sorta large in diameter.

A coil spring would do pretty well as you could just bend it slip in the kanthal and release. Just need to find small ones.

Something like this:

Only problem with the springs is that it wouldn't hold the wire firmly enough to do a good, snug wrap around the mesh. I always clamp one end of the wire (nut) and then wrap around the mesh. 0.16 kanthal is easier than 0.20 (which I use almost exclusively). 0.20 kanthal is fairly stiff when bending around a 2mm roll.

(and like jensb or asdaq said, there is the resistance thing).

peace, a question to you. How stable is it with the o-rings at the tank?
I´m little bit scared if they are not stable and i would have all the liquid in my pocket!!!

Don't worry. You need realy hard press pleksi tube over the o-ring (on my first Genesis and Hybrid) some user even have broken pleksi tube after that.
Now, I put little smaller (thiner) o-rings but you must still push harder to fit in and no leakage. On my Hybrid I don't have any leakage.

Nice PS work :)

POC everything looks great. from the picture what do we actually get. do we get the top part where the insides of the atty gets built? or we have to get that piece3 from elsewhere? also what about the clear tube that you can see the liquid. where do we get that.
sorry just a bunch of stupid questions. this is my first time please be gentle lol
what do you guys do on non working day? family time, party time? or anything but work.

Hi cos. You need only kanthal wire, ss mesh, some hard wire for + and - and tools.
Later i will upload picture of one kit and you will see what you get in.

Peace, I'm drooling already, ohhp, no that's juice on my lip. Hope you're enjoying your day off as much as I am. I wanted to finally try some #325 so I finished another genisis with a 510 connector at the bottom. Still really nice vapor and just a hint more TH, but it's only been about a half an hour.

Jens, great source, tomorrow I'll be right next to a little bead jewelery stand for a meeting, I'll see what she's got. 6x3mm is a little to short and fat for what I'd like but who knows. As for resistance, these wouldn't be that bad as the coil is tight so it is more like a tube.

Cos, I believe you just need kanthal, mesh and possibly wire. Solder, but you know ;)

Will be interested in hearing your impressions. The times I tried #325 it seemed to clog much sooner than #400 and didn't seem to wick as well. Seemed counterintuitive to me. Maybe it was the heat I was running or maybe I had used 0.16 kanthal with 3 wraps instead of 0.20 with 6 wraps or had rolled it differently or something like that. I didn't spend much time with it, just went back to #400.

So my idea for using springs to mount the nichrome/kanthal coil is a sound idea, but we need something better than the pen springs. What about negative battery contact springs? I've seen those in various sizes. I just metered 3 different contact springs and they all registered 0 resistance, or lower than my meter can display which is 0.00 so that should be low enough.

These springs are all tapered that I have, but I think that should be fine because we can use some of the wider loops to cut and straighten for soldering to the wire connections.

I got a plastics company to send me a free sample 1' of 1" OD 3/4" ID acrylic tubing and 1' of 7/8" OD 3/4" ID acrylic tubing. I can't buy any ptfe teflon right now to sculpt the caps, but if I come up with something to use for the caps of the atty tank, I will put together one of these using the battery springs. Anyone have any ideas on other things I could use to shape into the end caps of the tank?? I can't think of anything that has enough heat tolerance for the top cap.

Actually, I am a dingbat, I don't HAVE to use this spring idea in a Genesis atty, I can try using the battery spring connector concept in one of my pill fob cartomizers. Wouldn't be something that would be suitable vehicle for quick change coils the way I put them together, but it would be a good test of the upright coil mounted in the springs. Only difference would be the silica rope used as the coil core and layer wrap surrounded by polyfil, versus the mesh wick setup. That's fine though as I only want to test the spring mounting anyways. I know I could just take two wires and solder springs on and just throw power on it, but I always like to give things true function tests.

OH! That reminds me, I have a question, and I always forget to ask when I logon. Does anyone know what that fabric is inside of the regular cartomizers that they wrap around the coil? It is typically like 1"x2" and it feels like normal cotton cloth, but being as it is difficult to burn it obviously is not cotton, eh?

For all you guys who intend order new Hybrid and send me private messages. All 15 Hybrids find new users. I need, realy need few days to a little rest and sit down for a while and do my regular job. If any of you have strength to organize new preorder for next 15 Hybrids thats welcome. I will do this for you. But, 15 Hybrids minimum hold that price.
