I gather these are mechanicals? If so, why can't somebody add a switch and a chip to beautiful handwork like these?

Please excuse my ignorance. I stepped away for about 8 years.
I wish I knew. I love and still use the kick 2 a lot but there is no real reason why they couldn't put something more modern in to these things. I can't remember how old the kick is but I think the kick 1 may have been out then. Make the switch and nice short throw electrical button and it sounds like heaven to me.

This is a mechanical mod. Mechanicals have been around since 2007. Back then there weren't as many choices in the regulated market that were actually worth using. Although they are not as popular as they used to be, there are still a large # of vapers who prefer mechanical mods for various reasons. I have many in my vapocalypse stash because they are just about as vapocalypse ready as you can get.

A lot of today's mainstream brand "mech mods" aren't really mech mods, they are protected, unregulated mods. But I believe there are still some high-end mechanical mod makers out there. Used to be a lot of Chinese cloners out there, but not so much anymore.

I have Stingrays, but they are clones. You can find these clone tube mech mods for dirt cheap these days. Like under $5. What is being sold here is an authentic, high end mech mod.

There have been "mechs" that have been released into the market in recent years that have a protection chip in them. In fact, one that I know of will only work with the protection .... unless you mod it. However I think the vast majority of the high end ones are simply full mech, no protections, even today. Some people just prefer that.

Problem with the mods that required the protection chip is that the chips seem to break easily so you have to keep buying the chip to keep using the mod, then eventually they stop making them lol.

It's not the protection chip that I want. It's the vw, vv, tc, etc. They have the dna boards so small there is no reason stopping them from stacking things like a kick only thinner offering all those features while still maintaining the standard look of mechs.

I see, i guess there's just not much of a market for that anymore. People who use full mechs today want full mechs. Back in the day, many mech users only used them because they like the looks and/or that was all that was available that worked well. So there was a market for a boost chip. Not so much today.
