In case any other newbies are wondering what stuff is like...I can't post yet in the review forum, but a mod can move this I'm sure if they like.
I ordered the sample pack from my personal ecig rip-off band (V2, hey, have to start somewhere) and I also got a bunch of samples from FreedomSmokeUSA, because, well, people mentioned them here. Let me note that the FreedomSmokeUSA bottles are 24mg nicotine. This proved quite strong even for a former pack to pack-and-a third smoker like me. Once I filled up a cartomizer, I nearly got a buzz! I am finding a gentle pull, not even very long is best for these. Otherwise the throat hit from all the nicotine is almost too much.
I will update this once I get to filling some more flavors from FreedomSmokeUSA.
FreedomSmokes
Camtel - This is supposedly a Camel flavor. It has absolutely nothing to do with that cigarette’s flavor, or any other I can think of. It’s very flowery, hibiscus-scented. Not something I could smoke all day. Sort of like vaping an air freshener.
French toast - This one seems to be a favorite, and I have to agree. Who would have thought that something that would seem so overly sweet could be an all day-vape? It’s not terribly sweet, in fact, and it has a complex smoky flavor that grabs you about mid-hit, following on the delicious dominant maple syrup taste. I got a larger bottle of this to try, based on what I’d heard, and I’m really glad: this really IS a flavor I could buy 125ml of and call myself happy.
Nutella - Filling my cartomizer, it did smell quite a bit like Nutella - hazlenut and chocolate. However, on vapeing it, it tasted very flowery and less chocolaty, and the hazlenut seemed nowhere to be found. There is a bit of Nutella in there, but it’s a confused rather than complex flavor. It honestly seemed fairly close to the Camtel.

Congress - This does remind me a bit of Parliaments, but that flavor doesn’t seem to last after a few vapes. What you do get eventually is a nearish to tobacco flavor that I had no problem with vapeing all day yesterday. It’s not sweet, but has depth to it. Hard to describe, but I like flavors like this, even if they really aren’t that close to tobacco. Just easier to vape all the time than something with particularly strong real food flavor.
Turkish - I quite like this, but like most tobacco flavors, it has nothing at all to do with the flavor of a real cigarette. It is a bit on the sweet side, certainly sweeter than the other two tobacco flavors I tried. Maybe a bit closer to a Camel Turkish Gold. An excellent all day vape if you don’t care for something ridiculously sweet, but would have a hard time vaping a harsher tobacco flavor.
Red - The Marlboro flavor from V2. Harsh, mildewy, gives the impression of smoking a dusty mechanic. If you’ve ever been desperate for a nic fix, and picked up a half-smoked .... in an ashtray from the night before, and that .... happened to be a Marlboro Red, you’ve tasted it. On their site, a lot of people seem to like this. I guess Camel and Marlboro smokers will never see eye-to-eye, because it's just gross to me.
Vanilla - I quite like this. Vanilla is a flavor that doesn't whack you over the head, unless it's way too strong. It's a bit sweet, but not overly so. In terms of sweetness it's slightly below the French Toast I tried. I get a bit tired of vanilla though, couldn't vape it all day, but it's really not bad and models the real thing quite well.
Peppermint - Not too strong, which is what I’d be worried about with these kind of flavors. Very yummy, not something I personally could vape all day, but if you want to get a small child hooked on nicotine, give them this (I’m joking, DON'T DO IT! - but it is a really FUN flavor.)
Coffee - Disgusting. How does this taste like coffee? Maybe if your idea of coffee is a brew made from already used grounds in a filter that’s been hanging around in a coffeemaker for a few days. Not pleasant. I think I'm just throwing this one away. Seriously, it's THAT bad.
Chocolate - Tastes like those scratch-n-sniff stickers you used to get as a kid. In other words, it’s somehow superficially like chocolate, but actually the real taste is nothing like it. Not milky enough, or dark enough, or even sweet enough. Chocolate is too complex a flavor to artificially create, I think, so I’ll be steering clear of chocolates from now on.
Cherry - Bad, but not as bad as you’d think. I was expecting cough syrup flavor, what I got is a tad above this. If it was a little sweeter, I might be able to vape it for a few hours. Then again, more sweetness and it might be cloying and gross. As it is I can puff on it.
Verdict: bar none French Toast is going to be my go-to. After that, I really need to find a tobacco flavor I can refill, I do like the Turkish from V2 but I'm not buying those overpriced cartomizers, even if it's my 2nd favorite. Then Vanilla from V2. Hopefully some of the other FreedomSmoke flavors will prove worthy!
I am thinking it's best to steer clear of complex modeled flavors. They can't get them right, real food is too complicated. So far my experience has been the simple flavors (vanilla, peppermint, etc.) are the best. The only exception so far is this French Toast...
