Hi all!

So I guess I have to register since I've lurked enough to convince myself that e-cigs are the next thing for me. I also have to get a higher post count since I'm from Montreal and I want to ask questions on the Canadian board...

But anyway, I have a some questions and comments:

- I feel I'll need an e-cig that'll look like a regular one (I KNOW!), at least when I'm in public... I've been watching vids on YT to see how this vaping thing works and this guy seems like he's getting a lot of vapor from a really small (automatic?) battery... He's using this "super mini". Looks good to me! What is this model? Is it compatible with later upgrades?

- I wonder how much of a hassle it is to buy e-juice through the web (especially as a Canadian) instead of going to the corner store to buy a carton or a pack. I'll always have to think ahead...

- I often smoke while doing something else, something that requires both of my hands, all kinds of reno and outdoor work. I just like smoking without my hands, I guess... How much do you guys miss that? And how bad are the automatic batteries?

- How strong is the smell of that vapor? I have not smoked inside for ages and I hope to do that with e-cigs...

Thanks and Happy Holidays! :)

Welcome!

I am local too :)

Say,you got this reversed; you dont want something that looks like a cig while in public! At least its my perception of it or get one with blue led at the tip.

But seriously,if you aiming at quitting analogs,go PV man, those little crappy worthless things are no good.

You could start with a 510 and work your way up but keep in mind that a 510 or eGo type, the prices are so close to each other that I would go eGo type PV instead right away...then maybe toward a mod.

Well sometimes I do miss this possibility. Even with auto minis it's not that comfortable. The main disadvantage is that e-cig is hard and heavy compared to analog. You can't just put it between your lips (it will fall out) and you're forced to hold it with your teeth. I had more success doing that with cheap disposables because they made from relatively thin plastic.

No smell at all, maybe except some heavy tobacco flavors like Halo's. You can vape indoors, thats for sure ;).

Once you have 5 non-spammed posts or replies and then a 1 hour wait. you'll be able to post in the Canada forum (in National forums) and elsewhere.

The only decent slim models are a bit fatter than a cigarette and have cartomizers available (not just atomizer + cartridge which is prone to dumping 1/2 its juice in your mouth). I recommend Joye aka Joyetech/Smoketech/Boge 510 models as the smallest think I recommend. And be away small and possibly holdable with your lips means SHORT battery life. 180mah (100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping)

Next step up would be a KR808D-1 model including SmokelessImage/Bloogplanet/Halocigs G6 but again the smallest size is 180 to 220mah - a short time.

I don't really recommend auto - autos are easier to damage or kill with juice leaks, harder to get a consistent good hit from. But I recommend everyone buy a spare battery anyway

Merci Martin!

I didn't want to buy from this particular seller... I was just asking about the model. What is it?

And I know most will recommend to go with a more bulky vaporizer (like an eGo, etc.), and I'll probably do too for home, but I feel it would look weird to vape with one in public... I've never seen anybody use that. And I have a feeling an analog lookalike wouldn't look as weird. A blue light is totally cool, though!

I thought one of the inconvenience of those small models was the throat hit and vapor production. That's why I posted the vid... It looked plenty to my newbie eyes. :p

Thanks for the links! :)

Hello reh65 and welcome to ECF, I was just reading through this thread and thought you might like to also, Take note of the vendor list that was offered through PM as you may wish to PM that member for a request also.

I vape inside and I am still surprised that I get no complaints so not much smell at all.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

You guys are really great. Thanks for the replies! :D

The main disadvantage is that e-cig is hard and heavy compared to analog. You can't just put it between your lips (it will fall out) and you're forced to hold it with your teeth.

I see, I might as well forget that then... No more cigarettes resting between my lips. :/

No smell at all, maybe except some heavy tobacco flavors like Halo's.

Really? That seems so improbable with the amount of vapor that is produced. That's great! Do you guys use it at the job?

The only decent slim models are a bit fatter than a cigarette and have cartomizers available (not just atomizer + cartridge which is prone to dumping 1/2 its juice in your mouth).

Next step up would be a KR808D-1 model including SmokelessImage/Bloogplanet/Halocigs G6 but again the smallest size is 180 to 220mah - a short time.

I don't fully understand the difference between an atomizer and a cartomizer... Gotta Google it!

How would the KR808D be the "next step up"? In size or in quality?

Thanks a lot Puppy. More reading! ;)

I bet those models are mostly available outside of Canada, though... I don't feel like dealing with the aggravation that the Canadfian customs can be.

Hi!
I live in Montreal and I vape with a riva 510 (650 mah) Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510
I've never seen anyone else vaping when out and about but no one seems to bat an eye when I vape in public so I wouldn't worry about it too much :).
The price on the rivas are very cheap (there's a 20% off button on the top of the site) and they are about the size of a tube of mascara, not as big or heavy as they look. One batt lasts me 7-8 hours.

Non-sequential posts reh. Sequential ones may be deleted by a mod.

Say OK, sorry and that will be 5

Haha! I wasn't THAT MUCH in a hurry to get to 5 posts! :p Just replying to the good people who answered my questions. :)

But I didn't know the posts had to be non-sequential, and for that, I am very sorry. ;)

I've been reading a lot about e-cigs today and I gotta say, even after reading several newbie guides, it still seems like a pretty complicated world: several models with slight variations, atomizers, cartomizers, drip tips, cleaning, battery size, mods, voltage, cleaning, a boatload of Internet stores and brands, etc. Whew!

Somebody should write a book!

It seems to me it can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. I went to the local vape store, bought a pv and some juice, and started vaping. Once I read a lot here and get a little more comfy with all the other options, then maybe I will start experimenting with changes. For now, my ego T has me happily on my way to being an ex smoker. :D

It's really really nice of you to offer this, Martin. :) I appreciate it, thanks! But I'm not actually in Montréal... I just thought it was simpler/more informative to write that, I live near Trois-Rivières.

That makes me a liar as well as a sequential poster!

Thanks sweetmeat, I'm gonna look at those Riva 510. You're ordering from the US?

If anyone were to write a book, it would be outdated by the time it got published. New devices and hardware are always being created.

That's what I'm saying! The combinations and possibilities are crazy.

All my orders from China and US got through. At the time I didn't even know about nicotine issues. My first orders were from two Canadian sites, which turned out to be just fronts for Chinese suppliers. Which means that once my orders were completed, the Chinese component took over and shipped my items directly from China. That's what I thought anyway because they shipped from China, not locally. The items were priced exorbitantly, which I didn't know at the time, excluding sales tax, yet. Two other orders were from Chinese sites. This time, no sales tax and about half cheaper. They went through about the same number of days they arrived just like the first two. Well, they all came from the same country. Another latest three orders were from US sites. They also arrived, but much longer. One took about a month. The others about two weeks. I don't even think it's about Canada customs. It's about USPS. The tracking system only works in the first location of the products being tracked. So you stay wondering what happened to your orders. Some US vendors give you other options for their carriers. I tried Fedex in one of my orders. It's significantly better, but much more expensive. You can track your orders almost every 20 min. until it arrives. BTW, there's no sales tax also.

My point was, I was spending around two thousand bucks a year for my smoking habit. Not to mention the possible health expenditures. I ordered anyway even at the risk of not getting my money back. I also didn't worry about possible local guvment interference. They can question me all they want, but it's my health that I'm trying to save here.

But just to be safe, order your juice locally.
