Hi all,

I've been watching this forum for a month or so, but haven't been able to find the info I've needed. It's probably just buried somewhere and I'm not searching correctly for it. Sorry about that.

I would appreciate if someone with a little more experience with vaping could help me out. :)

In October, I purchased some disposable e cigs just for the heck of it. I was surprised to discover that I liked them quite a bit and figured why buy real smokes when these work fine and don't stink up the car, house, etc...

My first purchase was the Gammuchi Continental in mint. Loved that thing. The taste was great, lots of vapor, and the on/ off switch was pretty handy. The package said it would last 300 puffs, and it did. For $10 I was pleased. However, the local tobacco shop quit selling them. Bummer.

I switched to a brand called the Ecigarrette. This one was still a disposable, but you could change out the cartridge. The on/ off switch was harder to work because you had to twist the 'cherry' at the bottom, but it was okay. It came in one flavor, tobacco. I thought it tasted like sugar tea, but whatever. It worked, although it didn't produce as much vapor as the Continental. After those were finished, I thought I should actually pony up and purchase a rechargable.

This is the model I purchased about a month ago.
E Cigarettes, Electronic Cigarettes, Wholesale E Cigs by No.7
I paid $69 for the big starter kit which included 2 batteries, the USB connector, a plug in, 5 flavor cartridges.

I additionally paid $12 a box for flavor cartridges that came in packs of 5.

What I like about the # 7 is the easy plug in (no twisting or silly 'fake' cigarette packs to dink with, you just plug the battery into the USB charger and you're good to go.)

I like the size of the # 7. Fits easily in my hand and in my pocket.

The flavors are okay. I've tried the coffee (the best in my opinion), apple, turkish (sort of reminds me of the smell of Raid Ant Killer) regular, and cherry. On a scale of 1- 10, their flavors rate at about a 3. Again, this is not as huge of a deal as it might seem. After all, I'm not smoking and so the trade off of losing flavor is something I fully expected.

Price is okay. I'm spending about $2 a day less than when I smoked, so that's $60 a month savings.

Oh, and I switched over to the e cigs with no issues or problems.

What's not great about the # 7:

1. It's like trying to suck a golf ball through a straw.
I've owned this for long enough to have developed a system for taking a drag, but still it's a hard pull.

2. Almost no vapor. Strangely, this is more important to me than flavor. I like the vapor sensation. Guess the Continental spoiled me.

What I'm looking for:

A dependable rechargable that I can take anywhere with me that produces a nice stream of vapor. Battery life needs to be decent. Right now I use 1 battery per day. I also would like to avoid the silly fake cig package plug in. Can't say I'm interested in mixing my own flavors or dealing with syringes or any of that stuff. I want to plug a cartridge into the atomizer and get out the door.

I thought about Njoy, but was told today that they will no longer be producing any flavored cartridges other than regular. Blah. That seems a lot of money to pay to have no options.

Anyway, I'd love to hear your suggestions and experiences.

Thanks! :)

A 510 kit might be what your looking for the 510's put out more vapor then most they are a bit easyer to draw threw also. eGo kit is also a option they have long lasting batteries they are bigger round then the regular 510 also you can run LR atomizers on them which for sure should give you tons of vapor. The egos also take 510 atomizers so replacement are easy to find. Anyways there is a couple options for you that dont cost a lot. Libarty flights has some good deals and 6 month warranty also i think madvapes has a 510 holiday sale going on.

I started with the No. 7 Classic kit (the 3 piece), used one of their disposables to convince a friend to switch over.

I went to the KR808D-1 -- good throat hit, many flavors/strengths, multiple battery choices (min, standard, XL or Mega, then there are specials like my G400 900 mAh). I've bought from HNaler, vapor4life, vaporetc, positive experiences. Higher voltage than the 501 family, runs warmer without going to low resistance atomizers or cartomizers (to me that is a good thing, but it's subjective). I like the 808 XL batteries as a nice compromise on light weight and length of operation, and use almost all automatic batteries (only have 1 manual, a passthrough at work).

Prefilled cartomizers (cartos) for 808 run anywhere from $6 - $10 a 5 pack, though refilling them using what is called the condom method is pretty trivial. A huge array of juices are available.

If you are used to an automatic pen style 3.7V (at least my Classic was an RN4081 3.7V battery), a manual eGo might be quite a change. Much thicker battery, the stock atomizers I got in my kit last week run pretty cool. (my favorites are my G400 808 batteries, size wise)

Many of the vendors in the vendors section of the forum offer the KR 808D-1.
I get mine from Vapor 4 Life. They offer a wide variety of flavors, batteries and cartos also they have the best customer service I've found.

Hi Charlie,

Thanks, but the message I get from that site is:
Search Results for: "KR808D-1"
No products match your search criteria, please try again.

The results from Nhaler:
KR808D-1
Price $75.00 Adjusted Price $75.00 Availability Not Available
Is this thing called something else as well as KR808D-1? Tried to Google it, but it comes up with a million and one links and I'm not sure how to sort through for a reputable online retailer.

Thanks!

The only thing Vapor 4 Life sells are KR808's. This sounds like it might be a decent choice for you since you prefer buying pre-filled cartos rather than filling your own. But in my personal opinion, buying empty carto's and filling them with American made juice easily trumps the Chinese juice. But that's just my personal opinion.

Hi Roxics,

I didn't realize that the KR808 had a lot of different brand names. (Thanks Itsterry!)
I don't know if I prefer filling my own or not. I do know what I prefer is an experience that's as easy as the real cigs I used to smoke. Having to purchase syringes, multiple bottles of nicotine, flavorings, etc...and playing mad scientist doesn't seem like much fun to me. ;)

Having said that, the Number 7's that I currently vape are not tasty at all, but I am coming up on 2 months smoke free, which is saying quite a bit for me. Prior to this little experiment, I'd tried the patch, the pills, the lozenge, meditation, cold turkey, and even punitive therapy to quit smoking. I gave it a dozen genuine tries over the last decade. None of it held and I was pretty sure I was looking forward to a nasty cigarrette related death at some point in my future.

Even with the not-so-great flavor of #7's cartridges, I haven't been terribly tempted to go back to regular smokes. Ok, maybe a little tempted, but not enough to actually go and buy a pack.

I would say that the experience of not smoking is the best part of e cigs and if there is something tasty out there that doesn't require me to mix (and maybe screw something up and ruin my vaporizer) that's like the cherry on top.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. You've been more helpful than you know. :)

After much reading, video watching, and general browsing on the subject, I pulled the trigger on the KR 808D-1 from vapor4life. I also picked 20 different juice flavors/strengths to really get me started, a few extra batteries, extra cartomizers, and some little accessories type stuff. I should be good to go for awhile.

All of this is probably great timing as the plug in for my #7 shot craps last night and all I have left to charge it with is the USB fob. I was kind of miffed about that since it's only 6 weeks old. You'll have that, I guess.

Thanks to everyone who gave me some advice. It was very helpful. :)

They are a good firm, you should be fine with their product. My only pretty quick add-on was an 808D-1 passthrough (PT) -- I use one in the car all the time, running off of a cig-lighter-to-2AmpUSB adapter, and a second one at work, off a 2 amp output wall transformer. (Good practice is avoid a passthrough directly connected to your PC, ti eliminate the risk of toasting the PC if you get a short in the passthrough). Gives a bit warmer vapor -- about 4.7 to 5V output -- and no battery drain, as it runs right off the USB power.

If you just ordered, but want to get a PT added, call them or send an e-mail or PM, to avoid getting another shipping charge.

Enjoy!
