Yes, I like it and even add a drop to my DIY menthol vapes to add coolness and TH because I don't like a "knock your socks off" menthol taste. I don't know what supplies you have but I use both Real Cig or Mild Seven super concentrated flavor for tobacco and add menthol/koolada to taste. For a quicker fix, I use Dekang Red USA blend and add a little menthol/koolada. You have to be really careful, as I think I said, with Koolada... its got a very strong TH.

what brands are real cig and mild super seven? and what % do you use because i can see it now me sampling these things and being like thats freakin nasty and it will be the correct % and she would probably love it haha.

I use the super concentrates from Vapingzone. Not knowing preferences, I would stay low at 2 or 2.5% because they are "supers." There are whole threads here on the super concentrates where different flavors are discussed. You'll find a couple of other vendors carrying them but for a number of reasons, I would stick with VZ. I'm going to go and find the thread and will be back.

Edit: Here's one but put "super concentrates" in Advanced Search ticking posts and forums and you'll see many threads and some that are just vaping Zone super concentrates.

I DIY 180ml batches for my parents, both former menthol smokers. At first, I made them straight menthol with Koolada. They asked me to add some other flavor to it. I love the TFA Black Honey Tobacco. I added their menthol % to my mix of TFA BHT. They seem to like that, too. Taste is subjective. Mix something to get Granny started. Explain that NOTHING is going to mimic burning tobacco. These are new flavors. Ask and listen to what she wants in the flavors. Try and follow her cues for finding/making her ideal vape.

Something that hasn't been addressed yet is nicotine. Start her @ 18mg and see where that gets her. She may want more or less. I make 20 mg for my parents and myself, so the math is easier haha.

As a Newport smoker I hate hate hate menthol vapes. Weird, I know. I don't mind the cool feeling of Koolada, but the mentholatum/medicine flavor of mints and menthols turns my stomach.

RY4 is a sweet tobacco. 555 is a nutty tobacco. There are quite a few threads about how to get the percentages right. I would also recommend the Hangsen line, it's super super concentrated so one bottle will last you a real long time. I think I paid near $6 for the ones I got from Vaping Zone.

The reason we all love them is they are easy to get right, they use a very low percentage of flavor per mix, and they don't have to steep for ages, mine was ready the day I mixed it. 1 drop per ml works out to something like 3% flavor. No additives necessary, either. I urge you to try it when you can afford to. I know that "wow how expensive" feeling but they really are worth it.

Yes that's a good one. I would mix 5 mils of it up at 5% and add one drop of menthol and koolada each. If its too strong on either one just add more base/tobacco flavor or judge what will happen when you add the nic/base. The only reason I recommended the super concentrate instead of that one is because you use a lot less flavoring and there's no steeping required with a wait to see how it tastes. I use super concentrates and although they do change a bit after a while, its not drastic so I can vape them right away.

Couple of points to ponder. A simple menthol mix will be done day one. A decent tobacco mix may not be good for 2-3 weeks. Also, not everyone wants a tobacco flavor even those of us who are long term smokers. I know I wasn't interested in it at all and still keep it light on the tobacco flavor. I know you don't want to spend a fortune on this so here is my suggestion.

1. 15ml of a simple menthol mix. Possibly a bit of EM in there to smooth it out but mostly just menthol. Straight menthol was a life saver for me when I first started.
2. 15ml of an RY4 double mix. It is a light tobacco. Sweetish with a hint of caramel and vanilla.
3. 15ml of a stronger tobacco flavor.
4. 15ml of a bakery or fruit that you know is one of her favorites or something like a coffee flavor if you think that would please her more.

Those 4 cover most bases and they can be mixed by her in the clearo to give her different options. You can order small quantities of the menthol and ry4 from Wizard Labs and the cost there is very minimal. If your going to have another tobacco pick one YOU want and give her that as one of her options.

Well sheet I hope she wants a bakery or fruit as I have over 40 of those flavors already at the house. Just knowing her shes stubborn so if shes going to switch she wont want it to be a big switch im sure I can get her away from the tobacco flavors but I know first starting out shes either gonna want the menthol or the tobacco maybe ill try the menthol and the ry4d and have her try both and a combo of them idk lol im so torn so much good advice XD

As far as Hangsen, you have to think about the greater picture. Yes, with the TPA stuff, it's like $2 for 10ML... but you're also using 10% and up of that and waiting up to a month for it to steep. With Hangsen, the percentages are much lower and from what I've heard (and experienced) you don't have to wait that long. (only a week)
I have only tried 2 flavors from Hangsen so far so I can't attest to them personally... but I've seen A LOT of good reviews for them. It and the Super Concentrates from VapingZone seem to be pretty popular and consistent. I can attest to the VapingZone moreso, and they are overall good and I use them at 2%.
AS far as Menthol Vs Koolada.... I HATE vaping Menthol. Yes, I used to smoke menthols... but it's been a long time. WHen I was smoking last, I was smoking non-menthol... I think you'd be safer going with Koolada vs the Menthol. Menthol is very unforgiving in my experience and alters the flavor. Koolada doesn't really alter the flavor (small amounts, we're talking 1%... I used them drop by drop) it just adds a cooling effect that's pretty ...Cool... You'd probably like it yourself. Koolada adds nicely to fruits.

As at least a few former menthol smokers have pointed out, they don't like menthol. I hated menthols and vaping menthol is an all the time thing for me.
Now that I'm DIY I'm trying all my mint flavors by themselves and don't like menthol (TFA) by itself, it tastes like vapor rub. All the mints except for the menthol are good alone. A mint bomb I'm trying is pretty good although a bit unbalanced towards wintergreen, I don't taste the vapor rub effect.

In short I don't think your quest is going to be as easy as you seem to think (just putting some menthol in any old tobacco flavor).
Granny may not even like menthol vaping.
I think you'd be better off buying a sample pack of someone's liquids that includes a menthol and see what Granny likes and then focus your DIY attempts around that rather than assuming as goes a smoker so goes a vaper.

Sorry for the late responce. So I think its clear that I am not to use menthol :p so thats out of the question. I think my first atempt will the the hangsen red tobacco at 2.5% with 1% koolada at 18mg and see how she likes that... I have a while yet seeing as I ordered her gear from fasttech so its being delivered on foot from china.

 That made me LOL, they actually ship pretty darn fast, often less than 10 days. I've had that long from US suppliers in the past.

Hope your grandmother really gets into vaping! You're a good grandson to want to help her out!

I started with a 24 mg Mint and Ice flavors. They were both no tabacco. But strong on mint and menthol and tasted better than a smoke.
I smoked 2 - 2 1/2 packs a day.

Menthol is cheap. 2.89 for 15grams of the menthol crystals. Crush them up and mix 1/2 teaspoon to 10mls pg. They will last for a long time
Koolada is great. 1.49 for 8 ml and I use it it almost everything

I would mix a ice recipe at 7% menthol and 8% koolada and a menthol recipe at 8-10% menthol and a fruit or fruit ice.

My advise is try no tabacco at first, only a menthol and ice, a fruit or something else you already make.

Good Luck

D
