Sometimes this feels like a different language................................

For all us newbies just starting out with the vaping thing. Sometimes this feels like a different language. I get lost in the technical words for all the equipment. It reminds me of when I first came to Canada, and was in downtown Toronto, I went into a well known coffee chain, you know the one where they write your name on the cup. Anyhoo, I was in the lineup and all these people were giving complicated orders and honestly? I left and went to the "other one" where you can just get regular coffee LOL!! It was not a language problem I am British for goodness sake!! It was just NOT knowing what to order. So here we go, I have a Ego T and a Tornado (Son brought it from England) some tabacco flavoured stuff, some mint and some cola flavoured stuff. I am going into day seven and doing ok. :) :p

That's what this forum is FOR.
If you want to know the difference between an atomizer, clearomizer, and cartomizer, or get curious about ohms and volts and watts - just ask!
:D

Luckily I've found vaping enthusiasts to be much more friendly and helpful than those coffee people...Especially here on ECF.

The first time I walked into a vape store and they asked how they could help me, I said "Ummmmm, I need a new 'this', I don't know what to call it" *points to 'thingy' I'm using*
No one laughed, no one tried to make me feel dumb. They got me my iclear16 and showed me the protanks and explained the advantages.

Like any specialized field, vaping sure comes with it's own jargon. There's a huge amount of info here to help you figure it out on your own, or if you ask people will jump to offer help. Or you can always just ask for a 'this' and with a point or a picture, people will probably help you with those too.

Congrats on making the switch!! :)

Oh, just wait a while, Lizzy. You'll find that when some people say Atomizer, they mean a device that attaches to a battery or mod. Others say the same thing and are only speaking of the heating coil, itself. Coil might be only the heating element, but sometimes it means the whole head assemble with coil, wick, and the whole shebang. Context is everything, and context is often missing.

You found the right place! Believe me in no time you'll have the lingo down like a second language! That even I got. But I'm not a coffe drinker at all. I have a friend who sometimes sends me to "that" coffee place, forget it! I just order in my language endure their snears and get out of there! You won't find that attitude here. Feel free to ask anything. Best of luck! :)

I was reading the forum on and off for 2 years and still couldn't understand much. I went to the local vape shop, and I got to understand a few of the basic terms by talking with them. It took me another week or two doing intensive research on here to master most of it and I'm still learning. Vaping terms deserve a technical dictionary of their own (with pictures!)

Every time something new hits the vaping world, ..even us ol'pro's go "what'
But we're all here to help each other, and no matter how much you know .. there's someone here who knows more,
so we all ask questions off and on .. and you don't have to be "new" to get caught off guard.
Enjoy the ride getting there.

:?: No idea what you just said

I deal craps for a living. Those are all valid bets on a dice table.

Hopping buffalo = a yo(11) and all the Hard ways (4+4, 3+3, 2+2, 5+5). it's a one roll bet
Three way = three way crap check, 2, 3 or 12 crap. one roll bet
doctor bet = any crap + a red (any 7). one roll bet
high low Yo = 12 (high), 2 (low), 11 (Yo),

Same here. I needed a new coil. I had no idea what it was called. It was just the silver thingie at the bottom of the pink thingie. (I'm using an Aro II. I have a pink one and a blue one.) They knew exactly what it was I was looking for and kindly told me the name as they got one for me. :)
