I wasn't aware that these things could dry up completely! I purchased a couple of boxes from the classifieds with a manufacture date of Aug. 19, 09. They are completely empty. Well a couple of weak puffs on two out of 10 carts... the rest are completely dry. If you plan to store these for any length of time, I would recommend opening the boxes and placing silicon condoms on them.

Hi Whimz, hope all is well! This may well have nothing to do with it but I do recall reading something about a batch sold around last fall or so that the flavor or something like that wasn't right with. (Or maybe it was that it was improved after that time period...) That's about all I remember. Anyway, that does sound kinda short. Maybe for the heck of it you could ask the original supplier how long they're supposed to last, or even the manufacturer (greenworldcig.com).

Like you said tho, would be a good idea to cap 'em or put in something airtight regardless. Glad you mentioned it because I have a bunch I'll now be sure to do that with! :)

The GCs are constructed more like a traditional two-piece atty & cart system inside, so some say or think the condom fill method wouldn't work; but I have heard at least one experienced member say they use it on their GCs, and the reverse Taryn spin was seen to work with them, so... dunno. ;)

So far I've just been using a 21 1/2 gauge syringe and angling it into the batt end (since there's a part you'd bump into right away if you went in straight), which is the direction you want with a GC for aiming at the batting. It's very fast and easy. But eventually I'll try other ways, and also open them up (via the glued hard-cap soak method) for other tinkering too, like filler replacement. Btw I believe a 22 or 22 1/2 gauge needle is more typically recommended, has to be thin. Oh and another way that works without bothering to open the GC is to drip in the batt end. Especially good for top offs.

Re Whimz' OP, I just remembered that the GCs I've received recently (my first) came with their boxes wrapped in cellophane, so that should help prevent or delay drying out, unless it became ripped or something. (After opening a box it would of course still be good to cap them or put in something airtight.) Were your boxes wrapped in cellophane Whimz?

Hi miss Mia, I'm doing well, going broke from helping my daughter with the fire situ, but well, and she is doing fairly well, considering... thanks for asking.

With regards to the GC carts, they were still covered with cello wrap. It wasn't an issue of no flavor (unless "air" is now a flavor;)), you can hear just air pulling through the carts, no vapor at all. The box says they are good for one year from manufacture. So, given that they are eight months old, I think a year is a generous overstatement.
It appears the classifieds seller is going to cover me... they sent me three boxes. The third box I opened and test puffed all, they were all good, they were manu. in Nov.

@switched... Greencig carts are a bit different than the KR carts, they have no condoms to start with... I will be opening all my boxes and placing condoms on them now! I suspect that the foam that they are nestled in may act as a wick, drying up the carts... purely conjecture, but the foam is very dry and "airy."

Glad to hear you've worked something out (and more importantly, that you and your daughter are doing well, considering! :)).

IIRC, whatever the thing was with the GCs being sold around last fall (so August 2009 manufacture date would fit), it was enough that Drew decided not to sell the rest of his. May not have been a taste thing or only a taste thing, may have been a broader formula thing (e.g. too thin or something)... Could 'IIRC' further but will refrain, since it has already gotten foggy by right around there lol.

Anyhoo. Whatever it was, if it is somehow related here, it woulda been ideal if we could know, and adjust the extent of our preventive measures accordingly. Since most of my carto condoms are still in use elsewhere, I'm probably just gonna keep my GCs in good ziploc bags or maybe that and tupperware. (Have seen some interesting hardware store items suggested as condom substitutes, if one wanted to take it that far... which I don't lol, especially since I like the GCs and won't be ending up with unused ones several months down the road! Do wanna help keep the batting 'healthy' even after vaping them tho.)

FYI, looks like the manufacturer may be working on making GC cartos even harder to refill. :grr: Here's a reference.

I bought quite a few in March & early April so probably wouldn't have been looking to get more soon (and was just beginning to toy with incorporating GCs; still use other things primarily). But if I ever do want to I'll definitely be checking out whether it seems to have been confirmed that this is the approach, and they're more of a hassle and less likely to live through any tinkering now. That would let me out, too rich for my 4-5 ml/day blood if one can't anticipate at least being able to refill them a few times! (I know I know, they're supposed to be disposable anyway yada yada yada! ;) :D)

...just noticed how long the GCs are supposed to last anyway, from the current package insert: "The GreenCig atomizer is best used within 12 months after manufacturing when stored in dry and room temperature environment." (Wonder if that's known to vary more once out of the cellophane-wrapped box, since they don't have condoms.)

Anyway, not relevant in this case or possibly with the whole batch these ones were from, but hopefully holds true typically. Well, for others' sake anyway -- I'm sure I'll always vape 'em up pretty quick. :)

And btw here's a continuation of the 'new design' thread I linked above, tho it's also linked from that link.

They are refillable so easy with condom method or syring on top batt screw in part just leave to set
