I don't have charts and graphs and arguments. I do have experience with DIY nic salts.

First, nic salts can be made using different reagents. You may be having a problem with the reagent. As others have said, it may be your PG level.

I tend to go with the simplest explanation. I came here vaping 12 mg of freebase nic in a sub0hm setup (long story.) I was not feeling well at ALL. I ascribe it to nicotine overdose, not "I should vape 12 mg of freebase nic in a super subohm system."

I did move to nic salts at first, because my respiratory system was JUST tore up from smoking. I vape them in a MTL setup at about 19 mg/ml. I did not want MORE nic, or faster absorbed nic , I wanted the smoothness. I got that-- at the right NIC LEVEL for me.

I have even gone higher on occasion most notably during my smoking relapse after a year cigarette free. I probably went up to about 30 in a couple tanks. It was helpful. I did not experience vape overload.

I am also PG sensitive but I found THAT out ages ago. I use PEG400 as a workaround I am comfortable with, mainly because super high VG (to me) produces a "muddy" flavor and it's a PITA in small MTL tanks.

WITH all that said you did the equivalent of going from a few beers nightly to like, 15 shots of tequila. You should feel sick, you will feel sick. There is no reason you should NOT feel sick.

Reduce your nic! Get some VG and start diluting that stuff!!! You may not like the flavor and that is FINE. But, you wlll be able to figure out what nic salt level suits YOU in THAT setup and then purchase it. You don't even have to DIY. Get 0 level nic in the flavors you like and some 100 mg/ml nic salts to add to the mixture. If you are worried about flavor, well ask the manufacture to add some. Many of them will do it.

All this nonsense. Nic salts are not at fault! You went from BEER to TEQUILA. Next thing were are going to hear is like, you are swallowing the coil! Like some tequila drinkers like to swallow the WORM.

Way too high, way too fast.

Nic salts aren't complicated and they can be made smooth or LESS smooth. It's all the marketing madness.

If you are have increased your nic by that much you are going to feel crappy whether it is nic salts OR freebase.

Thanks everyone for the insight to this. For now the sore throat has passed and I'm just gingerly using up the 30mg stuff that I have at low watts and restricted air.

Im more or less vaping at the halfway point between a subohm monster cloud set up and a smaller all in one device. I've seen a few different companies making 6-12mg salt nic juices so that's what I'm going to try for the flavor chasing and minimalist approach.

Thanks everyone for the help. It is greatly appreciated.

How do you find the lower nic esalts compare to the free base? I'm specifically not looking to subohm as I'd like something a little more subdued. Did you try them at higher resistance coil levels?

Yes I tried them down to .18 or so in a typical drop in setup around 75W and it seemed fine to me. Granted, I often mixed it with a freebase (for flavor mostly) but even straight tanked it was fine. I use the same mg as i would with freebase and I couldnt tell much difference as far as delivery went.
