Is it safe to use a USB charger for charging an 900mAh eGo battery? I don't want to fry my computer, but after seeing past posts on the subject, it seems that I can find opinions both ways. Guess I'm looking for more expert thoughts from some eGo vets on whether it really IS safe, or if I should just go out and buy a wall charger and be done with it. Also, does anyone know if madvapes carries 510 cartos with white filler for eGos? It's so messy and hard to use syringes (can't use my hands any more), but dripping is ok with all of my 808 cartos. Thanks.

I have both 650mAh and 1000mAh Joye eGo's, and they've been charged exclusively through the USB port of my PC. Never had an issue. But...only use an eGo charger for it. Don't try using it on a different charger, that can cause a lot of issues. If you bought a kit, it should have come with a USB charger with a wall-adapter?

Also, all of the cartos that are labled 510 will fit on your eGo. It's not recommended to use dual-coils or LR cartos on a mosfet battery, so you may want to read up on that a bit, I'm not sure why. I do know that a lot of people do it anyways, without any issue.

Unles the carto says e2 style, Tank carto or ceramic carto then it generally has filler. I know the SmokTech and Boge regular and duals both have white filler.

On the charger off a USB port - I would use a 200 mAh charger for safety. Fast chargers can overload a USB ports host controller chip if you have another device on that same root hub. Most controller chips do not supply more than 500 mAh per host controller so if you are pulling 400-450 through that one port then something else only needs to pull 75-125 mah hours. I would recommend getting a powered USB hub (you can get them at 5 below or just about any PC shop for around 5$) and use that if you are concerned. They are also portable and almost all of them will charge even with no PC attached.

Hey MASTEROFDAMPF, thanks for answering my question about how to tell whether the cartos have filler or not. I asked that question a couple of times in other threads, but had always combined it along with another inquiry about something else and that would end up never being talked about. It's funny, today I was going to ask it in the gen. forum but you showed up and saved me the post. Can't thank you enough.

all usb ports run at the same voltage .5 volts you are safe to charge off you puter

USB provides power at 5V on pins 1 and 4, and is the same on all USB devices (or should be). The amperage is where you will get into issues.
nearly all common usb controller chips allow .5 amps to safely pass through. that is only 500 milliampere where the fast USB charger will pull at a rate of around 430 milliampere when charging. plug in any non-passive device and you are likely to damage it.

You are safe to charge as denali_41 said. I personally would never do this myself as I also charge phones and nearly everything else off USB. I use powered hubs around the house and I have modded USB ports on my case for charging only.

If you are handy they are very easy to make. Take a USB header and connect it to a Molex Male connector. Molex pin 4 goes to pin 1 on the USB and Molex Pin 3 goes to pin 4 on the USB. Connect to PS. Safest way to vape a passthrough IMHO.
