If you are talking about tanks that use stock coils, here is the difference for me.

I like a wide open airy draw. I am a direct-to-lung inhaler. A $10 tank (like a Protank) uses a small horizontal coil and has pinhole sized non-adjustable airflow. I can only mouth-to-lung inhale.

A $30 tank (like the Nautilus) uses a larger vertical coil and gives me the ability to adjust my airflow. I can direct-to-lung inhale. I get both better flavor and vapor off a Nautilus as compared to a Protank.
