Ok, it is 13 here, and I thought I was cold. I am going to knock that crap off! You guys have it WAYYYYYYY worse.
I'd make only three suggestions: make it East and West Dakota and give West Dakota to the Native Americans (it's the absolute least we could do), keep East Dakota in the Union, and give the rest to Canada. Do you really want to buy your scoreboards and medical supplies from Canada?
Daktronics is based in Brookings (scoreboards) and 3M has a plant here.
Edit: Although, if I get me some Canadian health care out of the deal...

I see many days a year -10 and lower... it sucks but I still like it better than summer...
Well, now it's not so bad. But now, for everyone that wants to know the temp in SD, just check the graphic. Seems to be accurate within about four hours, or so.
Just a little update... check this around midnight for some really cool (pun intended) numbers:
Its cold here across the pond, too! -10 it was on the east coast but about -1 right now 
Not very deep snow about 8 inches but very icy and the winds are coming tomorrow
