Spellcheck in Firefox

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to get a spellchecker in Firefox. I used to use Internet Explorer and there was a little program that ran with it called IEspell I think. I could use it to check my spelling before posting on forums.

My spelling is dire so I'm hoping something similar is available for Firefox.

kate i use firefox comes with google toolbar which has the spellchecker

Cashmere, the box is already checked to check spelling as I type but it doesn't seem to warn me when I actually do misspell. For some reason I'm not getting any corrections.

Do you have the new Firefox 3 ??? I don't personally like extra toolbars, but the google toolbar does add a spellcheck feature too like Kit said.

Yes, I do have Firefox 3. Strange the spell check isn't working for me.

so, when you type, you don't see a red line underneath if you spell something wrong ?

No, there's no lines or indications of any kind.

I wonder if the dictionary is installed or if that's got something to do with it, I vaguely remember having trouble with it. Will check that out.

Should I see a dictionary installed as an extension or add on or something? I can't find one.

I'm sure I had trouble with a Firefox dictionary at some point but for the life of me I can't remember what it was or how I resolved it.

Not that i'm aware of. If I misspell a word in any firefox window, it underlines the word.

Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling firefox and see if that works?

Yes, uninstalling might be the best option. I'll get around to it sometime. In the meantime you'll all have to put up with my bad spelling, sorry.

I have firefox 3 dont know how to make it spell check either, would be great if someone could shine some light on this... Firefox site says it does it automatically, but alas not for me and if anyone every need a spell check its me 8-o

Hi 20. It looks like we're in the same boat - can't spell, no spellchecker. Somebody might come up with a solution one day.

Lol. That's right, they'll have to put up and shut up or tell us how to work these infernal machines.

Are you from Scotland originally or did you move there? I love Scots accents. I'm from N. Ireland and we have a lot of local words and sayings that are similar to Scotlands.

I use a spell check addon in firefox, I will post the links once my post count is 15 as it won't let me link at pressent. Although Im not using firefox ATM hence all the frequent spelling mistakes LOL.
