It's a week old 0.4ohm coil.
With over priming it's understandable. But why does it happen otherwise? There's no gurgling either. Proper hit and randomly after 5 hits there's spitback.

Let's make sure your priming correctly, and then giving your coil time to warm up once primed before hitting it with full power.

Are you dripping some juice on the cotton itself prior to screwing in the coil and filling the tank?

Once you fill the tank how long are you letting it sit before firing?

Once you fill the tank are you taking some dry pulls (without firing) to see if you can get a hint of taste of your juice, prior to firing?

Once you begin firing, are you giving your coil some warm up time, i.e.: firing it at a lower wattage than you usually vape, then working slowly up to what you normally vape at?

Then, are you using your coils within the range that it is rated to be used at?

If not, what is it rated to be used at and what are you vaping it at?

I ask all of the above because not enough cotton can cause spitback, and if your doing something to burn your cotton (or some of your cotton) within those first few vapes, then that could be causing your spitback same as flooding would.

I'd like to think I can prime coils by now [emoji14]
It's been 2 months I've been vaping.

So to answer your questions
1. Yes i drip on the cotton on the airholes and on the top before screwing.
2. Let it sit for 10 min.
3. Yes i do take dry pulls
4. Yes i start at low wattage... Pulse a little then increase wattage and take a few hits every so often.
5. Recommended is 40 to 80. I use it at around 50.

See the thing is the spitback doesn't happen only when i put in a new coil.
Because as i mentioned the coil is a week old. I don't need to prime it, i just refill the tank.
The spitback comes on a random puff. Could be the first the 5th the 10th the 100th one. And my tongue is burnt bad because of this. Otherwise i wouldn't post a thread about it.

Well, in my defense lots of people do things incorrectly much longer than two months.. lol..

But yeah, you seem to be doing it correctly... you might try letting it set longer than 10 minutes.. perhaps try letting it set at least 30 minutes next time you put a new coil in just to see..

Question.. has this always done this? Just thinking here.. is this happening no matter what pack of coils the coil came out of (coils purchased different times different places)

Well to be frank and fair to the coils...
I have had only 2 coils till now that come with the al85 kit. The first one .6ohm worked good for around 2 weeks and then was pretty burnt and so i changed it with the .4ohm.
Been using the .4ohm for a week.
To answer your question, I can't remember having this issue with the .6 one... Seems like I've been having this issue with the .4 one only.

It could simply be the coil itself. You might try buying a coil from somewhere and see if you have the same problem with it. Sometimes you come across a dud, and in this case maybe it wasn't packed as well with cotton as it could be.

Always a possibility.

Sorry for your tongue.. that hurts!

Will try it with a few other coils once my tongue repairs itself... Can't seem to taste the flavors now :p

Thank you :)

But that brings me to another question that i asked previously on this thread too...
While using RDAs, considering how there's no chimney do people get a lot of spitback?
I hope you get what i mean here.
I haven't tried it yet... But my order is coming in soon so that got me wondering about it.

Lol which though, it's a good way to explain. :)
Oh you really wanted an answer from that? :p

I don't think anyone inhales like inhaling a golf ball from a hose... do they?
I'd say it's little more than the straw because the straw inhale might be more of a MTL if you get what I mean here.
I should mention I like to inhale DL style.

Usually just make sure you don't have too much juice dripped on your coils. Loose extra juice is what causes spit back.. with tanks wicking solves the issue, with dripping you control the issue.

So... rather like a large straw?

Then it must take some practice and experience to know how much to drip on rda.
Hit and try is the way to go i guess?

Yes, just play til you get it right. Get it to where your keeping the right amount of juice in your wicking, not too much or too little. Much like goldilocks. :)

Any wicking tips or coil making tips?
I've read lot of articles and watched a ton of videos and i think i have a strong handle on it and i will be able to do it properly...But personal experience is still invaluable. :)

Yeh i guess. A straw that is as wide as the drip tip(which i think is wider than a normal straw) needs more pull right?

@Bunnykiller has a good point.. the way your pulling coupled with the viscosity of your e juice might be a culprit of flooding..

Ill let @Tonee N and bunnykiller take this part, see what they think.
