Best of luck to you Shades on the resurrection of your LT:toast:cheers!

Ahaha! Thanks!

However like I said above, if it does come back to life I don't know how safe I will feel using it.

I figure best case scenario here is it doesn't work or only partially works which will not tempt me to use it. Then I have further justification to get something new and actually hack at it to see whats inside.

"I've give'n er all I got captin and she ain't got no more"

I unsuccessfully attempted a disassemble of cmacs broken LT so this will give me another shot at figuring out how to do it.

The circuit board in cmacs LT seems to be glued in with super glue or something.

To bad it wasn't HMG (hot melt glue) a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol is great to release pcb's from it.

I don't know how the Lava tubes pc board is laid out but there could also be a surface mounted protection fuse in there.

shades, after doing electronic since I was a kid I've had my share of, 'out of the blue' exploding capacitors in face, gas outs and smoke outs. It's embarrassing when the whole lab class stops and checks to make sure you can see after a gun shot sound and the hissing plume of flaring gasses, LoL. I've learned some respect for power flowing in circuits. Chit happens, can and will eventually, and often it's quick! I wouldn't want to see you wearing shades for life!

All this reminds me. I must go over my mods wiring since I dropped it hard yesterday in the parking lot and the back plate flew off. There's a 10 Amp high drain cell in there, lol, don't want that shorting out. I do really need to epoxy it all together but I'm searching for a better switch first.

Too bad the rest of it wasnt so securely glued in there.....it might still have been alive!

Ahahaa true enough dude true enough :D

The second part of the top came off fairly easily, and I thought I was going to get the board to slide right up but nope it pretty much said " if I am coming out it is in pieces".

So I am going to do a little hacking to the tube itself to see if I can salvage the board. Seeing as mine is completely flanged I can do whatever damage I need to , so I can see how to get the one from yours out safely.

I clamped it down, put one of the crappy 18650's I have into it, and screwed the end piece on with welders gloves. LMAO!

Kinda scared me that it light up and appeared to be working for a while, took a glove off it was firing and working then died again.

So no more messing around, pulling it apart and thats the end of it.
