Recently I purchased my first genesis style tank and mech mod so I can see what the sub ohm vaping is all about. Also I have been wanting to try dripping but want to get a rebuildable atty.
Since I want be able to replace it without having to buy a whole new atty. Since taking a look at top of the line attys like the 357 etc. the price just is a bit much for something that will eventually fail, and you will need to get a new one. I have been trying to find one but google only finds the rba that use silica wick. I would like to use stainless steel wick since I can just burn off the caked on juice etc, and have less of a worry about burning stainless steel. Otherwise I do not see myself trying dripping and I would like to try it and see if it is for me or not. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and if possible answer my question.

Thank you for the replies! I knew about the Aga tanks using SS wick builds. However most pictures of Igo-l/octo I have seen are always with silica based wicks which I want to get away from.

In my IGO-Ls, I use different wicking materials. I have one set up with #500 SS mesh and one set up with SS mesh and silica. As with any RBA, you can build them anyway you like.

Wouldn't using ss mesh in a dripping atty just give the same results as using ss mesh in a genesis? I'm still fairly new to rebuildables myself so if thats a newbie question please go easy on me.

It will give similar results, but not the same. Also, dripping atties are easier to set up than genisis.

I think the OP is wanting a dripping atty and a Geny two completely different critters. I like my spiral drippier but I use silica. Flavor change is easy a quick alcohol bath for switching from a strong cinnamon menthol to a light lemonade and no bleed over in flavors. I like ceramic cup drippers

f your squeamish about silica organic cotton yarn can be used found at most craft shops like Michels.

Bingo actually am waiting on an Aga to come in the mail with my Electric Angel. I originally made this thread to see if there were any rebuildable dripping attys out there since I want to just stick with SS.
Since from what I have seen it seem that it is easier to clean and you can dry burn the gunk the builds up without as much worry of burning through a thread wick whether cotton or silica.

I use a smallish SS wick in my Igo-L. I DIY my juice and I like to taste test. Mix juice, drip a few drops and vape, dry burn, move along to the next flavor.

I also use 400 mesh in my RSST (and AGA that has taken a break since I got the RSST.) I haven't used silica on any of my rebuildables and probably won't in the foreseeable future. Even my T3s are rebuilt with cotton instead of silica.

I have gotten a lot of miles out of my phoenix atomizers. I have played with several different setups but by far my favorite is the small vertical SS mesh wick. It will last for a long time, gives great performance and its super easy to clean and swap flavors.

I also use the AGA genesis tanks and they are very similar with regards to SS mesh use and performance. I think the Phoenix has a bit of an edge on the VTF but the tanks give you longer run times.

Like some of the others have said, they serve different functions but to answer the original question, I use almost identical setups in these two types of atomizers and they are very comparable in performance.
