Heyyo vapers once again ! (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
I'm actually planning to get some stainless steel wires for my RDTA ( which is yet to come ) , also pretty hyped since people always comment that it has much better flavour when it comes to wire material .

HOWEVER [ situation intensifies ]

I am planning to get a mech mod , and knowing how mech mod works , they'll essentially rip the battery and cook the coils in no time . But i've did some research and people said that SS wires will pop and break / get damaged when dry fired at high wattage / voltage .

Since i'm getting a mech mod , IF i wish to install some SS wires , should i *TAP* the fire button instead of pulsing it ? This is of course with contact / tight coils . Or should i play it safe and just use spaced SS and don't bother dry firing it ( maybe some tapping to ensure there aren't any ......ed hot spots on the legs )

My planned build : SS316L = 26g | 7 wrap | 3mm diameter = should be around .25 - .27

PS. yes im aware that SS's resistance is very low compared to Kanthal and even Ni80

imo for dry firing you're 1000x better off to use a regulated mod
Also wether spaced or not gunk WILL accumulate on your coils which in term will need cleaning one way or the other.
Also even if you know about this you NEED to know about 0hms' law and all the precautions needed (don't ask i don't do mechs anyway).
Finally, although i agree SS gives me more flavor, at the end of the day this is subjective, yourself might not like SS and prefer something else like claptons.

I am a big fan of tube mechs, and use SS316L quite frequently. On all my tubes before actually firing I put them on a regulated mod 1st to check the ohm’s. Especially important if you use a stack as they double the voltage but not the battery amperage. I suggest also utilizing Moochs testing of batteries as many simply misrepresent the amperage to increase the sale of their products. This can be very dangerous for you or your surroundings.
I generally start low when dry firing, around 25 watts

Yeap , i'm well aware of how Ohm's law works :) @QcVaper

The reason why i added *spaced coils* , usually whenever i build spaced coils , they never seem to get hotspots , only very rarely at the legs , just wondering should i even dry fire spaced SS's ┌[ O ʖ̯ O ]┐c

@JamesDMad , i see i see .. Yeah , Mooch is my godfather ! Also just realized when u said to *check your ohm's* , sometimes the coils aren't * ready * hence , giving a ridiculously low ohm reading

Would it be worth to get an Ohm Meter and firing / priming it there ? Or should i just play it safe and have a reg. mod on standby just incase ( ͡° Ĺ̯̿ ͡°)

I think just *a known accurate regulated mod will suffice for that. Even with spaced coils I still dry fire a bit to make sure they are free from any oils or schmutz (technical term) that may be on them.
