after giving ss 316l a good try i've gone back to titanium because it's just better (imo) for the tc vaping i do. @op - give ti a try for tc vaping.
I like SS wire especially for Clapton cores. Heats fast, but you have to take into account that it has a much lower resistance than Kanthal. I rarely use TC anymore, which is another plus in favor of SS, you can use it in power mode too.
Yeah, I only use ss now too. Kanthal will definitely taste different if you go back to it.
But just build as normal. I use tc like 10% of the time, if ever. Just power mode. Ohms around 50% of kanthal on an equal cold build.
They last longer too.
And easier to build with since it is much softer.

It is preferable to use Stainless 316 surgical wire or titanium. I think kanthal degrades juice faster, but I have not conducted testing for this yet. I think nickel and nichrome will degrade juices the fastest.
Titanium is annoying to get consistent heating, in my experience. It is the least toxic coil material though.
