It's not the same. You'll need approximately double the amount of wraps to get the same resistance as the kanthal. I do use SS316 on DNA200 devices to do temp control and like it and you can use it in VW/VV modes but you'd have to be careful. If you wanted kanthal, they should've sold you kanthal.

I went to my local vape shop yesterday for kathanal wire and they sold me ss. They said its the same as kathanal and that i can use it in wattage mode or temp control mode. Ive never used ss only kathanal. I have a kbox200 and it has temp control features but ive never used it. Any sugestions?

I would Highly suggest before you do any Actual Builds with the SS you have, that you try doing to "What If" builds on a site like the one below.

Coil wrapping

If you are Unsure what Alloy of SS you have, just use 316.

I just switched to ss316 and I have noticed a difference in ramp up speed and taste. Resistance is the biggest thing to watch when building. Make sure you have a way to measure it before using it.
Not on regulated mods though. There coil mass is much more important than resistance.

I went from using 24 gauge to twisted 28g - wow the flavor is awesome. I didn't want there to be a difference because more steps, but again - wow the flavor. Tastes like a very good broken in coil, right from the start. Did I mention the flavor?

Have you tried just parallel 28g as opposed to twisted? Boden swears by it in the womper woom. You still get the two wires, but without the extra step of twisting.

Or just Parallel with Twisted Legs.

Makes for Trapping the legs easier on some Atomizers.

It's a loose twist. :) and I'm just complaining and resistant to the twisting because I'm cantankerous. It's at most a minute added to rebuild time, if I twist that time and don't have leftover.

I'll trying the parallel later though, it'd be an interesting experiment - I suspect that the twists were trapping more juice, kind of like the broken in 24g isn't as slippery when it's 'broken in'

I've seen all the crazy builds people do, I just ignore it for the most part. Hence the years of single or dual coil, straight builds. :)
I've been tempted by all the builds but they looked like too much damn work... so when I saw this, I grabbed it:
