Is the stainless steel GGTS really stainless steel? The reason I ask is because I decided to take my GG to the jewelers today to have her buffed and polished. No one would touch it becasue they said it was chrome plated brass. WTF? I took it to three different stores and they all said the same thing. Am I missing something?

Hi loganmt,

it is registered as ss GGTS because you asked to do so (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/118053-gg-serial-numbers-153.html#post5825673), but it doesn't mean that it is a ss GGTS, according to the records the previous owners of the ss GGTS are:

chevys2die4
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/118053-gg-serial-numbers-35.html#post3881098

and then
keighles purchased it from chevys2die4
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/118053-gg-serial-numbers-115.html#post5147705

There is a GGTS #796 registered to Mahajrodney

Who sold it to you?

It seems you have bought the GGTS (not the ss GGTS) :(

One thing that we could do is ask to keighles to check if he has sold it.

By the way, did you change your username? (just wondering because when Manni registered it, your username appeared as logannt).

Cheers

I asked to change it because I bought it from keighles. After reading this thread, I am fairly certain that it is stainless steel and that the jewelers today are indeed "dim witted".........

Post a pic - we will tell you what you have. If no one changed parts around and it has two knurled rings you may have a Nickle one. Will be able to tell right away by the engraving

I bought it used.
You should talk with the seller.
It's registered in the serial number list as stainless steel.
So? Posting a note on a message board validates the information as factual?

It's poor form to post a question in an accusatory manner when you don't have facts.....really poor form.

I sold this to loganmt...it is stainless # 796 I purchased from the classies a few months back. I am 99.9% sure it is actually stainless. I work with metals, the feel and weight are consistant.
I think whoever told you it was brass was basing that on the laser engraving.

If you are that concerned. Most high end pawn shops have a device they can analyze the metal and tell you exactly what it is.

All GGTS that are plated are made from aluminium, so the stores you went had to see aluminium under the plating (if you have the plated version), not brass
They kept looking at the engravings. He let me look at in through a magnifying glass thingy. They show up gold...or brass. Just wondering if the engravings are treated to look like this or if it is really brass underneath?
