Well I've talked myself into this. Now I just need to order my starter kit...
I do better learning about things when I have the physical item in my hand, so please excuse the noob-ness of my questions here.

The Revolver Elite seems to fit almost the exact mold of what I was looking for (minus it not being all black), but I do have a few questions.

I've read through a few different posts around here and it seems that some parts of most e-cigs are disposable. What part is that, and why is it disposable?
I want to say it's the atty, but I can't recall for sure. Does this item just burn out?

I was a light smoker, a pack would last, 2-4 days, depending on how the day went at work ( ;) ). So I shouldn't burn through this stuff like most. But for the disposable part, how long should I get away with using it before it's trash? (If there even is a disposable part, that is).

The starter kit comes with
1 PCC
2 Auto batteries
2 Attys
5 flavor carts

2 batteries will be just fine for me now. So I'd obviously would want more flavor cartridges, but do I need more attys as well?

Thanks for taking the time to read :)
And Sorry...
Gosh, this is a noob post haha.

The attys are little electronic things with a tiny wire coil that doesn't last forever. It's kind of like a light bulb. Think about turning on and off a lightbulb a hundred times a day. It would burn out eventually too. I use 901 and 510 attys and average about a months service with them. I get them for about $6.00 a piece so when I think about the fact that I used to pay $8.00 a pack for cigs every day, It's not that big of a deal.
Batteries don't last forever either. That's one reason I use the big mods now. The batteries last longer and cost less.

Thank you for clearing that up. A month is just fine with me. As I stated, I wasn't ever really a heavy smoker, so this should last me longer than the average person on here.

How do you know when your atty is bad? Is it a visible situation, or is it directly associated with the amount of vapor you get? The later is what I would assume, and I'm going to also assume that it's a gradual decrease, right?

You will know when it's bad- won't work. The 510 attys should last longer than a mo. You need to order some e-liquid & determine nic. level based on full or light cigs.

Okay, thank you for that. I'll expect about a month out of the atty then. The starter kit comes with 5 carts. Do I just refill those with the e-liquid of choice then? Or is it recommended to use a different cart for each different 'flavor'?

Ok paul, I gotta tell ya. I just went to the revolver site to see what you were gonna order. Looks for thworld to me like a kr808D-1 ecig with a brand name printed on it.
Nothing wrong with that, really. Lots of people love their kr8s. However if you go here KR808D-1 2 piece e-Cigarette they have a kr8 kit with 2 batteries for $39.99. I've used these guys before too and they're good venders.
I just don't trust companies that don't even tell you what model they're selling you.
I don't know if you're married to the idea of a 2 piece system or not but while you're at vaporkings why don't you check out the 901 and 510 kits too.

Atomizer life is quite variable. I have yet to have one go out in 3 weeks of vaping and I hope to make mine last a good while longer. Some report many months on a single atty and others get only a few days. Kind of like the light bulb analogy mistinthewoods mentioned. We've all had the experience of putting a new light bulb in only to have it burn out within a day and then the next one might last a year.

I would keep at least a few on hand and then replace as they fail or pre-emptively when they start getting several months on them if you are that lucky.

I'm actually finding these high resistance atomizers that I'm using at 6V are lasting longer than the regulsr ones did at 3.7V.
Oh, and paul, Those 2 piece systems use CARTOMIZERS which are a little different than regular attys. I don't think they last as long as attys but they cost less too, if you buy them from the right vender.

Thank you very much for that suggestion. I'll look into it in a bit here, and get back to this thread on my findings. Brand name means nothing to me. I'm all about build quality, and not wanting it to resemble an analog in anything other than shape and size. I'm not married to any one thing, or another so suggest away! :)

Thank you for that bit of information as well. I'll probably buy rarely, but when I do, in bulk. With attys and batteries anyway.
(Bulk being a relative term)

Cartomizer? o_O

Cartridge + Atomizer?

Okay, so the "KR808D-1" looks all well and good (h3ll if I know what I'm REALLY looking at though. =/ )
Only one complaint, that it doesn't come with a PCC. That is bit of a problem I suppose. The idea of a their supposedly great PCC is what essentially sold me on the Revolver.
As you said that they look similar, is this PCC from Revolver compatible with the KR808D-1?

510, 901, kr808, etc. they're all different designs. Different mechanical variations that do the same thing. You basically have two choices. A two piece system (battery and cartomizer) like the kr8, or a three piece system (battery, atomizer and cartridge) like the 901 and 510. I just started messing around with cartomizers and I'm not completely sold on them yet. I may save those for driving since they hold more liquid and need filled less.
Hope that clears it up a little.

That does clear it up a bit. I'll try and explain it myself, to see if I really do understand.
Say the 510, it's a 'model' that different companies put out. It's essentially the same item, same size, same function, relatively the same design; just with a different brand name on it, and small changes from manufacturer to manufacture.
Caromizer just sounds more difficult, and with my experience, when people or companies try and make one thing that does two tasks, it's usually more problematic (than the non combined product). Can anyone disprove or verify this?
