Sorry if my post was detailed but I have read so many post where hardly no info was given and instead of getting advice the person would get the usual when, how and why questions.
I should have posted that I drink only two cups of coffee a day. I drink on an average, 3/4 to 1 gal. of water a day. I have been a smoker for 30 years. Nicotine is not something new to me. I have a professional medical background. I have not quit analog cigarettes at all. I have only cut back my intake. I smoke 3 to 6 a day to keep a balance in my system. Since I started vaping which is still new to me, I have been slowly incorporating them into my life. I have been afraid of the withdraw symptoms and think that this was best for myself. That being said, I have been following the guidelines of 10 to 15 drags per sitting. I vape once every hour, give or take a few minutes. After each vaping a glass of water just like I have been doing all my life with cigarettes. My drags are quite like smoking just a little slower. I am vaping 11, 12 mg prefilled cartomizers and or ejuice. In my experience, everyone is different because of lifestyle, eating habits etc, in 30 years of smoking I have always had headaches due to lack of nicotine. When I have cut back, not been able to smoke etc. My original question was regarding how sick I was after vaping the last week using SI cartomizers verses my ejuice. I would still like to thank those that did give me the advice to mix vg because I may have a slight intolerance to pg. I will stop using those cartomizers.

I read a post on this forum that a lady had the same problems and come to find out she had a reaction to pg and the filling or batting inside the cartomizer. She had switched from that to a vg and also switched to a non filler cartomizer. I am a very open minded person therefore when people say it is impossible to have a reaction to pg they are wrong. It is possible and a study already states at least 3% of users experience reaction to pg. I think that is why there is vg. I am going to try a 50/50 ratio and 60/vg 40/pg and increase the flavor to compensate. Some ejuice websites have this option due to the decrease in flavor caused by vg.

10 to 15 drags per sitting? Then an hour break? And when do you smoke the cigarettes?

I was confused - I thought you said you got sick after vaping V4L cartomizers.
I have never tried a prefilled SI carto nor any of their juices.

I have no idea at this point - too many variables. I think you are vaping differently from most other people. I think most people vape more often that they smoked but for fewer or variable drags each time. You are continuing to use cigarettes which 4000 chemicals to the equation.

Re PG - occasionally someone is sensitive to allergic too it. More often it's the skin irritation of nicotine being so unbuffered in 100% PG juices. A thoracic surgeon told a member that PG vapor is used in hospitals to deliver inhaled medications, even to lung transplant patients. But yes, sometimes someone is actually bothered by PG or VG.

What I am still not understanding - you vaped for a month and THEN got sick.

Could you just answer these two things alone:

What were you vaping before you got sick and where did you get it.

And what did you vape that did not make you sick prior to that?

Sadly - with all things there are potential side effects. Vaping has it's side effects, Smoking has it's side effects, and quitting has it's side effects. So far - I cannot honestly say I've experienced anything more than a little dry mouth from vaping. Several (2-4) ml a day through Auto 510's, 510 drip tips, and 306/306LR attys - and many of mine are sitting to watch a movie for a few hours when the stick rarely gets put down.

Of course - mileage will vary. PG can be a pain for those with a sensitivity. For me - the potential sensitivity issues are small in comparison to the 4k chemicals burning tobacco.

Isolate cartos, flavours, PG/VG ratios, and give it some time. If you aren't feeling optimal, and an analog fixes it - it could well be psychological too. Think about your smoking needs, identify options, and feel good about the choice. We all have occasion to feel under the weather, and sometimes it's as simple as a change to routine.

I did 3 days on the vape, no issues, no questions asked. Not a single analog - and felt great. After that - an analog here and there. At home in the evenings, it's vapetime!

Can't vape at work, have some social challenges vaping with smokers - Can't wait for 5pm.... seriously. :)

Hi dormouse, no I have prefilled cartomizers from Smokeless Image. I have a few 10ml from deejstuff, ratio 80pg/10vg. I have 1 bottle 30ml from vapor4life. when I fill my own blanks I have not had any issues. I was vaping on a Smokeless image prefilled cartomizer to finish them. This is when I became sick. On the back of the package it states is is a 80pg 20vg. I have noticed that when I fill my own I have not had any issues. I still smoke 1 cigarette when I get home from work. Usually 2 in the evening and 1 in the morning. Sometimes only 3 a day. I did a google search and they say vapor4l adds vg to the wow juice to create such vapor. I vape the Ecig about 10 to 15 times a day only. I think it may have been a bad prefilled cartomizers.

Which type of Vapor4Life juice - WOW, Premium, VG (there may also be a WOW VG)? I use the WOW juices and judging by the vapor amount and thinness they SEEM like 90PG/10VG to me (thinner than my 80/20's, and more vapor than my 100% PG's).

Maybe you got some bad or mismarked prefills. Occasionally there is a mistake and the nicotine in something is wrong. And some of these juices/cartos are prefilled in China. Did they seem unusually strong or taste funny?

The SI cartomizers (same as Bloogplanet cartos) give big drags. The stuffing is looser than the V4L cartos I am used to. The SI cartos also seem to use juice up faster due to the big drags. 10-15 drags on an SI carto could have given you more nicotine than the same number of drags on yoru other cartos.

Probably unrelated:
I found out recently that some prefilled cartomizers use PEG as a base instead of PG. The cartos were the prefilled Boge cartos for 510. A customer asked the vendor why the prefills last longer and his answer was they are filled with PEG based liquid, not the PG the same Chinese juice in bottles uses (Dekang juices). PEG is (I think) Polyethylene Glycol?? Some DIY's have tried it as a base. But I have no idea what SI uses in their prefilled cartos.

I love the ecig, absolutely love it. I have been a smoker for 30yrs. I have tried to quit smoking many times. When I first found out about the ecig a little over a month ago I just had to have one. Even though I became very ill two days ago, I am not giving up. I am smoking cigarettes only to get over this spell of being sick. I am a nicotine addict, for 30 years I have been inhaling that poison and I think that 2 days of going back will be ok, lol. That is the only reason I went back to the analog I am ready to start again today by filling my own. Again I think I just got a bad carto. By the way like so many smokers I hate smoking, hate the smell, taste and everything associated with it. That is why the ecig is the greatest invention for us hardcore smokers. I know once I find my balance I will be fine. I have learned one lesson though, if I ever vape a carto that taste funny I will throw it out immediately. Lesson learned.

dormouse, I agree when I vaped the SI it was really strong. I was actually taking shorter drags. They had a really strong throat hit that I had not experienced prior. Maybe they were miss labeled. That could certainly explain how strong they were and how I was feeling so ill. I bought the wow pg 11mg. from v4l and loved it. It is smooth on the throat, taste great with no issues. Like I said I cannot wait to go back. I think I will not be using SI prefilled in the future.

Sometimes somebody somewhere screws up so bad that a bottle of pure nicotine actually makes it a vendor and then to a US customer marked incorrectly as 100mg/ml (when it is really 1000mg/ml). So it does happen.

Please let SI know about the possibly mislabeled or even dangerously high cartos and don't use those. Maybe they will want you to send them back. BTW which flavor pack were you trying so we can avoid those.

The blanks are nice though. I have used the Bloogplanet blanks (same as SI blanks - very nice bottom coil blanks, big drag though less heat and hit vs V4L cartos when used with your NORMAL nic level). The Vapor4Life cartos (especially the WOW ones) are HOT, need a plastic drip tip as a mouthpiece and deliver stronger hit, though it's harder to get a good sized drag out of them (denser stuffing, coil closer to the top).

Re WOW juices - my faves are WOW Vanilla (not rich, a bit like cotton candy - sweet and clean) and WOWbacco (sort of a cocoa tobacco, and WOWboy is the same with some mint added). Sometimes I like WOW Sour Cherry.

It defiantly seems to be a delicate balance when trying to substitute a pv for analogs.. I smoked a pack and a half a day..sometimes more when having a beer..lol However, I NEVER smoked a cigarette all the way down to the filter and I NEVER took deep inhales, (at least since my twenties). I'm 40+ years old and have been smoking since I was 16.

My "learning curve" moving to the pv is like three or four draws on the e cig and right back in the pocket until another craving arises. To sit there and hit that thing as much as you would a normal cigarette would be way too much IMO. Plus, the excitement of a new hobby and a new toy might lead to overuse...lol :)

Looks like you answered your own question.
Me, I'd toss the pre-filled and mark SI as do no order, or try a fight for a return... IMO not worth the hassle

I think that filling my own is the way to go for me. I only purchased the prefilled from SI to have a couple. You know nice to have a prefilled if one goes dry. Being a novice I like trying and searching what works for me, regardless of the bad experience. I am about to try USA liquids and stick to that for a bit. There seems to be some great sites that even mixing the vg you can add flavor to compensate, I am excited to try those. I want to try some 50/50 from unsmoke and freedomsmoke.

@dormouse, The carto from SI was a 12mg 555. I did purchase 5 packs of blanks from them and they will be here this afternoon. I threw out all my others because I want to start fresh with no cross contamination. The vapor4l I use is the wowboy. That has been my favorite juice flavor so far. It is smooth with a hint of chocolate and mint. You can barely taste tobacco. I will try the vanilla, you make it sound so tempting. Thank you very much

I had the bad taste thing at about week 2 and still get it from time to time. There are threads around about people losing their taste buds or getting a foul taste in their mouth when they start vaping. As for the nausea, I've had it but it's usually been when I've overdone it a bit - chain vaping 24 mg . I make a conscious effort to slow it down if I feel wonky.

Hope you feel better soon!!

I think that you are sensitive to something in the SI carto, maybe one of the flavoring agents, but probably NOT PG, because you don't have symptoms when you are filling your own with a 80PG/20VG juice.

Unlike everyone else, I think that your headaches are from your nicotine being too low. 12mg is low nicotine, 15 vapes an hour is light vaping, and you said that you get headaches from nicotine withdrawal. I think that you are probably analyzing your vaping too much and not vaping until you are satisfied. I will repeat something that I have said often: as a smoker, but a new vaper, the one thing in which you are already an EXPERT, is self-regulating your nicotine intake.

Headache - sounds like dehydration - up your water intake. 8x8floz min did it for me

I drink a LOT of water. I still get headaches from vaping though they are not bad I know what causes mine so I ignore it. I get them from too much nic after I have been vaping like a research monkey. I vape even after I have a nice nick'd out feeling sometimes because for me, I want enough nic in my system to really get the stimulant effect up high. This headache happens about once every two weeks and that tells me to slow down. I also find different flavors make it worse like flavors with a lot of additives in them.

Mind you I do this on purpose trying to reach a certain level of alertness and concentration. I love that effect from the e-cig. I do however go hours at a time without a vape and do not feel a compelling need to vape to get nicotine. I believe I was more addicted to other additives in smoking tobacco than i am to nicotine alone.
