1. Why do you do it? With some juices, they get better after 1-3 weeks of steeping in a dark place.

2. How do you do it? I leave the top off for 12-24 hrs. Then I store them in a drawer for 1 week. Then I sample. If they are getting a better taste then I leave them for another week sampling every few days.

3. Do you have to do it, or can you use your juice straight away? Some juice arrives tasting good. I just sample them when they arrive.

A lot of juice is made to order. You order the nic level you want, and the PG/VG ratio so it's very fresh. Maybe when you order the straight up juice from big vendors it's already been sitting around. I notice it most in tobacco flavors, they seem to have subtle flavors come out the longer they sit. I especially notice it with BWB, even the color of the juice changes.

Most vendors that have juice that needs to steep usually say so on their website.

The only flavor that I've found benefits from sitting in the atty a while (not really steeping) is coffee and I mix three different ejuices by dripping 2 drops of each into the atty. Tastes better after a while. No others of the ones I use seem to benefit from that - oxidation is usually not a good thing and I think that holds with ejuices. Teas and wines have other things going on to where opening up a wine a 1/2 hour before drinking can help. But ejuices aren't wine :)
