Freshly made juice benefits from being "steeped" for a few days (or longer). It allows time for the flavorings to distribute themselves through the juice, and can turn some flavors that initially tasted gnarly into delicious juices.

Everyone has their own personal preference on how they like to steep, personally when I get juice, I'll try it out and determine if it actually NEEDS steeping. Many juices don't. If it does need steeping, I'll take the cap off and let it sit for about 7-12 hours, just to get any perfumey/residual odors out of the bottle. Then I'll shake the bottle thoroughly and re-cap it. Shake the bottle every day, or every other day or so, and open it for a little while to bring in some fresh air.

I've found a lot of chocolatey juices will get WAY darker over time, as well as any juice with higher concentrations of nicotine in it (nicotine turns darker as it's exposed to oxygen, I believe?)

Some people have taken to brute-force steeping, putting their bottles of juice in agitator machines to rapidly steep them. It's really up to your personal preference how far you wanna take it. Some juices I've tried actually get too sweet after being steeped, while others lose some of their sweetness and become more tolerable with time.

Here's a video I used when 1st starting out to learn how to steep and the WHY ... there's actually an art to it ... it's simple and easy, and works GREAT. (MUCH better than just putting somewhere dark and shaking once in a while) The guy that does it is known as ZVaper and I think is a MUCH overlooked Vape Video Guru. He has Hundreds of video's that are educational and not over the top. He usually puts out about 4 video's a week and covers EVERYTHING you can think of. Check it out:

Hello all!.

I'm always thinking about asking what is steeping.
Well, the day has come.

Thank you for your kind replies.

Carlos.

There's loads of discussion about steeping on ECF. Try doing a search. There's a thread with a technical explanation in the DIY e-juice section if you like that kind of thing.

Ask 20 people and you will get 20 different answers.

The simple answer is that some juices will taste better after standing for a while, with others it won't make any difference.

Letting it sit for a while with the top off will allow alcohol from the flavorings to evaporate off. Alcohol can give it a bad taste.

I had one juice that smelled nasty in the bottle and tasted worse when I vaped it. I emailed the vendor and they said to let it sit with the top off until the smell went away. That took a couple of weeks and it was fine after that. So calling the vendor is worth a shot, they should know what's best for their juice.

never gave much thought to steeping, the juice that tastes best to me is the one that was just made. steeping(time) seems to make flavors less "bright" and meld together better if it's a multi flavor mix.

that being said, if you're asking what steeping is, chances are you may be new to vaping.

want my opinion? take any "steeping" advice with a grain of salt, if the juice tastes good it tastes good. leaving it in your sock drawer for a month isn't going to turn it into five pawns, i assure you.

i steep my juices a bit of a different way. I open the bottles for a few hours shaking them occasionally. then I immerse the bottles in water that has just been boiled and leave them there till the water goes to room temp. Then I shake the hell out of them for a min. Then use them like any other bottle. i have tried opening bottles and leaving them in a closets for a week or two and I got nothing out of it the small change is not worth the time when you could be enjoying your juice in hours instead of weeks . By the way I have done it with this method on ejuces that literally had no flavor and in under an hour they were explosive with flavor and then there are some flavors that cant be fixed so they end up as new bottles for my future endeavor of making my own juice.

There are so many steeping methods out there that I find it darn right confusing. Some say to take off the e-juice cap and let the mix sit open for 24 hours or more others say you should only expose the juice to the air for a maximum of a couple of hours. Some use heat to speed up the steeping process, but I've also read that heat can damage the flavour. Some juices are pre-steeped (Halo claims that heir juice needs no steeping) while others require a considerable amount of aging or steeping before being consumed. I was on the Nicoticket website and learned that they recommend steeping their Crème Brulee for six to eight weeks (apparently common for custard type juices)!

Wow! Lots of variables, opinions and methods. I've learned that if I use a juice that is not to my taste, or awful to me, when "new," I'll let it steep for a couple of weeks by introducing air to the bottle (circulating air - squeeze the uncapped bottle 20-30 times), replace the cap a shake vigorously for a minute and store for another day; I do this daily. Then I'll try the juice again after a week, then two weeks, maybe three and then if it still tastes bad (to me), the bottle will probably get chucked into the trash.

OH NOO!!., Too hard for a lazy bum. I'll try it, if I don't like it. THRASH CAN!!!.

I"M JUST KIDDING!!!!. I'm really appreciative of all of your replies.
Will check each and every one and will find the best method for me

THANKS GUYS!!!! Carlos.

:) Yah, it hurts when I have to throw out some e-juice. But, life is too short to waste on something that's just too disagreeable. Although Halo is renowned for their line of juices, I once purchased their Voodoo and couldn't stand it; to me it tasted like fruity vomit (sorry) with too much honey. All the reviews raved about this great tasting juice. I guess taste truly is a personal and subjective thing. I tried to get back to it several times, tried to like it, but it simply didn't click with me. That juice has now gone to a better place; and not as part of my stash, lol. If I knew someone around here that vapes, I would have given it to them, but there aren't a lot of vapers in North Bay, that I know.

Cheers,

Peter
