I've been using my itaste VV v3 for about 5 months now with no issues. The vape quality is good. The current output is similar to the provari (none of the rattlesnake vaping that you get from many of the VV/VW's out there). The battery life could be better, but usually lasts me most of the day, and with the pass through I can charge it up in my car while driving around, and still vape while doing so! The provari will put out more Watts, but if you aren't going to rebuild you will not be reaching the max output of 11 Watts that the itaste VV v3 can do. The main attraction is the vape quality at the price point. And once you start using variable watt, you will find you don't want to go back to voltage. With voltage, any time you change your topper or coil, you have to adjust your voltage to find the sweet spot again. With wattage, the unit does it for you. Find the wattage you like, and it will make the adjustments to keep it there as your coils resistance changes.

Now THAT sounds appealing ... I'm guessing Provari's don't do wattage at this point?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to wind up with 2 devices anyway. The Provari Mini ... and ... I don't know.

I've looked at the Dovpo E-LVT a lot. Seems to be quite durable, which is good for me on the go (things tend to hit the ground a lot). And now they have a new one, a Transformer? (I could quite do without the transformer logo, but the device takes 2 batteries, which may make it last longer on a charge, but it doesn't look as durable). This iTaste looks like a good option too.

I've been in the same boat, and just ordered on a lark a Inokin vv 3.0. I didn't realize how different it would be from the spinners/twists but it is!! I love this thing. It reads ohms, is adjustable for both VV and VW. To top it all off, it is flat so it doesn't roll off of my table, is still slender/sleek and has a pass-thru to charge it!

Even though I've stepped up to dripping with a mech mod, my itaste v3 is still in daily use for me.

I think the provari does do variable watt (not sure, don't quote me), but I can't see dropping that kind of cash on a VV/VW if it doesn't give more then my v3 can...4 Watts more and not much more vape quality doesn't justify the price tag for me. If I'm going to spend that much on a vv/vw mod, it's going to be a 30 watt that can sub ohm :D

For me, the progression was Halo Triton (eGo style), iTaste vv, ProVari Mini (with extension cap), Vamo, full-size ProVari (with another extension cap).

iTaste vv was just given to a friend who wanted to upgrade his experience. It worked fine, except for battery life. I'd kill it in less than a day of moderately heavy use. My friend is a much lighter user.

Vamo was great for a while, but the center pin became loose, and the fire button started getting flaky. Hence, to replace the Vamo, I got the full-sized ProVari.

Still have the Halo kit as a light-weight "walking around" device, and as a backup.

People place value on different factors, and that's why there's such an overwhelming variety in this market IMHO.

Factors for me on the battery side of the equation are:

1 - Battery life. Must last all day. ProVari mini with extension takes an 18490 (red AW IMR 1100 mAh). Full-size ProVari with extension cap takes an 18650 (purple Efest 2100 mAh). Either one of these devices would last me all day. Alternating them, I've got power to spare. I still carry backup batteries for each with me daily, because I'm into playing it safe like 'dat.

2 - Dependability. ProVari's have a fantastic track record. After living with my mini for a few months, dropping it several times, and never having a single problem with it, getting another was a no-brainer.

3 - Consideration of usable lifetime - Shiny new things come out every day in this market. Even my beloved ProVari's don't do variable wattage (you mean I have to do math? j/k - My academic backgound is in physics - I love math). For me, the purpose of the battery is to safely deliver clean, regulated power to whatever holds my coil, wick and liquid. That's it. Okay, a few extra points if it feels solid and it's a pleasure to hold in my hand, but those are minor factors. The ProVari does all of this extremely well, and for me it will have a usable lifetime much greater than any sealed (non-replaceable) battery unit.

I tend to believe that you generally get what you pay for. For delivering power to my coils, two ProVari's (and a microphone :) ).

Atomizers are an entirely separate topic. Using different atomizers will radically affect your vaping experience, much more so than different battery units will.

This is excellent to hear. Battery life is going to be important. Ideally I could get through a day on an 18490, and by the sounds of it, even if I can't, I'd only have to carry one backup battery. I could fully recharge them while I sleep. The durability thing is very important too. I tend to look for things that are "me proof" ... which is terrible, and always makes things more expensive, but worth it in the long run.

Once you start with mods you will never touch an ego again
I love rebuildable atomizers and mods

It seems there are a lot of people that go in this direction, and I do enjoy the look of some of the mods out there (AR-15 and the Panzer Blackhawk) but it's just not a path I want to go down ... simple and direct is more for me ...

too bad they can't create a VV Provari type device that looks like an Panzer Blackhawk!!!
