Sterile rolled cotton CVS question

Received my Koh Gen Do cotton today. I really like that it's nice long fibers and shaped into these little pads (each pad will prolly last a half year for me )

It's everything treebeard claims. It is very easy to work with and vapes most deliciously.

Here is a 2.1 ohm micro coil I just wrapped up for it on a cyclone on my VV grand

Thanx Russ!! It says 100% pure cotton and has not been chemically treated or bleached. I've been diggin the XC but might have to give this stuff a try!!

I only started boiling after I noticed a taste for the first hour or so. It started to bother me so now I boil.

I boil like 30 cotton balls at a time so I have boiled cotton for quite a while until I have to do it again

I tried the cvs rolled cotton without boiling and it had a strong taste I just couldn't handle. After boiling and rinsing in distilled water and drying in the oven I am blown away. Great flavor with little to no discernible cotton taste. Very stoked!

Being lazy, I just grabbed some from a bag of CVS cotton balls in the medicine cabinet. Boiled them, and there was a definite whiff of chlorine at first. But they taste fine after boiling.

Glad you like it, Russ. Bleached cotton it worrisome to me and when I used it I felt like I could taste the residual from the bleaching process.

I don't see any downside to using this rather than the CVS "sterile" cotton. If anyone knows of any (drawbacks) of using Koh Gen Do cotton, please let us know.

I was using the cotton Nick Green talked about in his YouTubes. 100% organic, no bleach, blah blah blah. I did some research and found that the organic/sterile cotton uses hydrogen peroxide to whiten it. Even after boiling, my throat still had a reaction to the cotton and the only thing I can figure is the hydrogen peroxide. I emailed Nick Green abut the cotton and he's quit recommending it. His quote was "well I guess it's back to XC-116".

The Koh Gen Do says no chemicals so I may have to try it.

With the "sterile" cotton, I was not only getting that funky "band-aid" flavor I was also getting some significant throat irritation. The Koh Gen Do eliminated the problem for me.

I think the important thing to remember about the "sterile" cotton is that sterile doesn't mean chemical free. I suspect no amount of boiling is going to totally eliminate any residual chemicals that were used for bleaching it.
