I just vaped the original mix at 4 weeks and 2 days. Its really good now.......finally.

It actually had taken that long to taste right. There was something in there that has been harsh tasting......until the end of week 4.

Thanks for the recipie........And I finally believe there is something to steeping......at least with this concotion...:toast:

I mixed up a batch of this today - I hope I can wait 4 weeks on this one. :)

I mixed another batch of 120 ml Saturday and cut the egg nog down to 1% ( I was hoping this is where the nasty taste was coming from and why the steeping was needed for so long as ithe egg nog smells quite bad from the flavor bottle)........and it was.

I vaped it today (actually vaping now..my yesterday mix) and it tastes pretty damn good. No real steeping needed....maybe I have poor taste buds.

So if you want instant success and dont want to wait to steep.....either put very little egg nog in or leave out all together.

This vanilla Custard also messes with my throat..(as in, during the night and first thing in the morning, my regular juices hurt my throat after vaping this)....I experienced this before and chalked it up to maybe I had a sore throat from going out in the cold the day before.....but now....Im sure its the custard....stayed in the house all weekend. Maybe it wont effect you like it has me. I didnt vape that much either.....maybe an hour of the custard.

Take this with a grain of salt...everyone is different as we all know.

I think I have a similar problem with the Capella Vanilla Custard. In all recipes I have where the Vanilla Custard is a major component, I can taste a "chemical" type of flavor - a bit of bitterness on the exhale. I think it is the Vanilla Custard flavor because that is the common component on my juices with similar aftertaste. I had a recipe of Vanilla Custard and French Vanilla Custard and another one with Vanilla Custard and Dulce de Leche (Grant's Vanilla custard clone recipe). Perhaps it just needs to steep some more.

Firstly many thanks to OP for this thread.
Re: CVC I have tried this on its own and find it good, also tried DDL now that's harsh with nasty after taste.
I have also tried the original mk2 in different types of atties Evod, CE4 etc and they all gave different results. Best results for me was with dripper and Kayfun both using cotton and silica wicks, stainless mesh was a disaster.

I haven't posted here in quite a while. This with minor tweaks is my ADV now, as well as about 6 friends and family that love it. I am not sure exactly how much I have mixed, but I have used up three 13ml and a 4oz. of Capella VC, and working on a second 4oz. now. So I have made a lot. This is by far the best vape I have ever had. Thanks Stevo.

Here is my current recipe...

I made the OP's recipe about 5 weeks ago. When I first tried it after a steeping for only 1 day, it was not vapeable (to me). There was a very strong chemical taste on the exhale so I figured I would let it steep. Now, 5 weeks later the chemical flavor is still there but not as strong as the first time I tried it. The creaminess has also blossomed and it taste fine on the inhale. However, I just can't seem to get rid of the chemical aftertaste on the exhale. Maybe another month of steeping?

Have you tried breathing the steeped liquid (i.e. cap off for 12-24 hours max)? I've had the same issues with some blends that I've created and other than time (some custards, especially complex blends can take up to 2 months), breathing the liquid seems to help. You don't want to go cap off for too long though as it seems flavor seems to diminish, from my experience.

Yes, I have. I have it with cap open for several days and I am doing it again now.

I tend to leave the cap off overnight the day I mix it. From what I can tell the strong smell is the egg nog. It does go away.

The main change I did in my tweak was swapping vanilla swirl for the smooth. I have smooth. Just not a big fan of it, and can't tell where it does too much on most of my recipes. I wanted a hair more vanilla, so I used the swirl. I tried using TFA vanilin, but it masked some of the other notes. I also dropped a few flavor %s ever so slightly to lower the steep time. I have mixed over 1500ml of this recipe.

Cap. Vanilla Custard 15%
Cap. Egg Nog 1%
Cap. Butter 1.75%
TFA graham Clear 1%
TFA sweetener 5%
TFA vanilla swirl 1%
TFA whipped cream 3.5%

Right now I mix it at 55vg/45pg and it vapes great in all my tanks. I have mixed it from 40/60 to 60/40, and nic from 6 to 24. They all turn out well.

Only thing I have noticed, and it disappoints me, is this recipe (or the original), don't vape well with a cotton wick. I tried it in a rebuilt kanger PT2 coil, as well as a cotton build in a KFL. For some reason, for me at least, with the cotton I get a really sweet taste, but don't get all the flavor notes. Anyone else experienced this?

Well, I have been wanting to make a vanilla custard juice and came across this thread. Wow.... I'm now a bit poorer buying several flavorings and contemplating what particular recipe to try.
It's been a while since the last post and I'm wondering if the consensus is to go with the original recipe or if a modified version is getting the nod. Any advice is helpful.
On another note.... I also had some problems with the Capella Vanilla Custard when vaped as the only flavoring (10%) in a mix. Here's where I'm not sure about things.... the following day I tried adding two other flavors and the resulting mix did not bother me a whit. I wish I had tried the VC alone before adding the other flavors, but alas, I did not. Lousy scientific method and completely my fault. The flavors added were Cap Graham Cracker and FA Whipped Cream both @ 1%.

I'm also curious as to which recipe is the best as a consensus. As for what to do with Capella's Vanilla Custard, I've found 7.5% VC with 1-2% Dulce de Luche(sp?) from TFA does wonders. Some people also prefer the VC at 15%.

I think its the caps custard. tho i rarely want to switch up my gear so i dont lol, I seem to get better flavors off silica when usings caps custard and higher ohms or lower watts. ...... I think lol
