So you tried the JC tobacco flavor I see. The taste was so bad, I can still taste it when I close my eyes. Took several days before it totally wore off my atty.

Don't abuse your instrument in the meantime, just chalk it up to experience.
Kreel, I've seen others post the same problem with the 901's, it might just be a model specific thing, too. I use this all the time, in the 801 and now Janty Stick, and still love it. I have a weird "ss-118" that I used as a back-up, and it tastes very sweet out of that. Totally a different taste, but still nice.
And Yoshister, that scratchy feeling in your throat might be that Propylene Glycol is too drying, or you are sensetive to it, causes inflamation. I Had to go to Non-PG or Vegetable Glycerin to get rid of raspy throat. Do, though, drink more water, that helps a bit.

Yeah, maybe it is a 901 issue..I've had mine less than a month and the taste is very similar to how primer tastes in the beginning...so disgusting and it burns HOT vapor and stings my throat... usually vape is nice and cold but this is just nasty taste/smell/and HOT. I tried putting more drops and it just flooded it so Im pretty sure it was wet enough..

Totally wierd..I ordered a 510 today..Ill cross my fingers..

I had this problem a few days ago. When looking real close at the atty (I have a 510), I saw some fibers from the cartridge wool that were stuck under the braid in the atty. Some careful work with really fine bent nose tweezers got it out, and the taste went away. The removed fibers were dark brown to almost black.

Cheers-

I've got a 510 too and have all those fibers on some of mine but I'm afraid I'll screw up the atomizer if I take tweezers to it *LOL* So far the only way I'm cutting down on the burnt taste if running through the hot water and all, and grabbing a new atomizer for the day/night...

I find that you must top off your carts until they are overflowing to get rid of the burnt taste. Otherwise the taste indicates a dying atomizer.

well.. i'm not sure sure about that , i ONLY get a burning flavor in my pen when i use a cart , when i drip the flavor , throat hit and vapor is amazing. As soon as i put on a cart , even a brand new cart , i get a good 2 drags before it tastes horrible , if i pull a little harder to get juice down to the atty... BAM! juice in the mouth.

i'm perplexed by this , and determined to find the root cause.

I use the pen too - you have to really keep the cart moist because it drys up fast - hence the burning taste.

the cart IS moist that's the thing , i get about 2 drags in before i need to top up again to get rid of the burning flavor. This is only a recent development when i first got my pen , i could go hours before topping up. Even with a brand new atty and a new cart .... the burn returns...

I just got a 901 2 weeks ago. I thought it was going to be easier. It's as tempramental as the others. When it's good, it's very, very good.... But the poly dries out before that bigger cart is empty, and it seems to cook quickly.
I have begun filling all of them and rotating between the Npro, the 401, 402, 901, and my ICE Box. Usually one of them is working very well. Sometimes all of them! Who knows. But I'm not smoking.

**Watch the temp of your atomizer. Mine seems to stay hot when I'm not drawing on it. Sometimes the LED stays lit. I unscrew it. Not a hassle I expected. I don't like the mic batteries.

I'm not sure why but I'm still getting that burnt taste when I vape, I admit I haven't been blowing on the atomizer to clear out the liquid but I believe it is the juice I'm using that is causing the problems.
My current set up:
DSE901 with USB pass through connected to APC powerpack
Johnsons Creek Juice 10 sample flavors
Just started have the problem myself. For 2 days now I could fill the cart, take about 5 puffs, and then a horrible burnt taste. Makes me choke. I tried everything I could think of.

using a passthrough, 110v to 5v - 1amp converter with RN4081 atty, and carts.

Just out of cuiosity, thinking maybe the power was too high, I unplugged the USB from the 110v converter, and plugged it into my lap top USB port.

Burnt taste gone!!! I'm now charging the cart and puffing it untilo the cart is almost dry with no burnt taste.

Try it.

Cheers; jd

See what happens when the batt starts to get weaker. I've had very noticeable differences in batteries before. Some punch & some don't.

Problem is, when I'm plugged into the 110v, the hit is fantastic. I still get a hit in the USB port, but not nearly as strong.
