Still having problems with could building

So I've built more coils for my kanger protank 3 and they all read about 1.7-2.1. Most are dual coil and they vale alright for the first little while but then they start making the beauty ring and the kanger base really really hot. I tried a single coil build and same thing.
I'm using 32g wire and 3 mm biowick with the kanger protank 3 on an mvp2.
I really can not afford to buy any new toys at the present moment so just advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

watch that your coil will not touch any other parts but silica only
may be share your photo of the coil - it might make situation more easy to see and give you more advice(s)

Try this: place a piece of wire or large needle along side of your wick while you wrap your coil. Pull the wire/needle out when you finish wrapping the coil. That may keep the coil from being too tight and allow more juice and therefore may require less heat.

One thing that may help is to heat your wire before winding the coil. That will anneal the wire making it softer and will oxidize some of the aluminum in the wire so you can push your coils closer together. Your coil should heat from the center out like this video.

You don't need low resistance - it still works the same.

Good tip, CastleRat. I personally heat my coils after building and then squeeze it together with pliers. But that might be a hassle when you're working in a tiny Kanger coil housing.

I've used small screwdrivers, drill bits, sewing needles to wrap the coils. Any where between 4 wraps and 14. I've used a straight pin inside the wick to wrap wire around the coils. I've gotten the wire red hot before making the coil and after.
I previously posted that I have a bunch on coils (just counted 21), 6 are new in the package, one in the tank, so I have 14 to build. There 6 built and ready out of 9 and the 3 I've tried using get so hot I worry I'm going to break something.
I would assume they get hot because I am not getting enough vapor so I keep drawing. I still can't figure out how to add a picture though

Maybe you have a tight draw and when you suck too hard you keep flooding the coil, and all the heat from the coil goes into getting the liquid hot instead of vaporising.

Try tilting the tank upwards to vape.

If that works then it means your coil is flooded.

3 mm wick sounds big.

Have you tried cotton yet? You just thread the cotton through the coil after dryburning the coil; not even taking apart the coil or anything; real easy to try out.

Like cotton ball cotton? I did try that the very first time and I might as well have drank the juice for as much as I got in my mouth. The wick is not very tightly wound so I can pull threads out, I actually did that last night with a coil wrapped on a carpet needle. Is a tight draw caused by the wick being too tight in the coil?

The airholes are in the bottom of the tank on the 510 thread that goes on the battery.

It's a miracle you get any air really;

Its one of the reasons I recommend the eGo threaded miniprotanks and not the common 510 threaded tanks.


Once you have a tight draw, instinctively, if you're not seeing vapor, a former smoker tends to suck harder (to get the cig burning), which then has the effect of drawing liquid to the coil, which floods the coil and compounds the problem.

Try fluffy cotton; you might want to boil a piece of cotton first; every few months I drop a cotton ball in a teacup of water, and zap it in the microwave for 2 min and leave it to dry.
