Have you tried from outside the x-ray rig? Maybe it has something to do with all the electromagnetism.

I bought a sample bttl a couple weeks ago for my gf since all she vapes is coffee or waffle. She said she noticed a hint of clove in it and disliked it. I didn't notice it though and found it to be ok.
