Yesterday I made my first post…at this forum. After accomplishing a minor research on the ‘net, pre-ECF, I began my e-cig venture, May 28th, via purecigs.com. Was hoping to find others who have used same to make comparisons. After quickly replacing an errant battery have had no problems with them. Their presentation and supplies look very professional. However, they do not have ‘juice’ nor a USB pass-through. I spend a lot of time at one of my PCs…a pass-through would be great.

Thinking it was time to explore other avenues to make a change and/or an alternate I asked about the worthiness of CigEasy or the Magma by Volcano. Their ads looked good to me. The answers I received, in general, seem to favor the Joye 510 /w EGO or the KR808D-1. Decided, unless I’m convinced otherwise, to try the KR808D-1 from CigEasy. Might eventually have to try all the top ranked products.

At 5:00 p.m. today I will have completed my first two weeks on the e-cig. At the end of the first day I vowed to never again buy regular cigarettes, analogs as you call them… difficult to see them as analogs. Anyway, I had four packs left in the carton – three today. Might smoke a couple extra today to celebrate. I’ve been smoking for over fifty years, have tried various methods to quit and nothing worked – this will and is working. For the past number of years I’ve smoked at least a pack and a half a day. Lately, for me at least, that equates to over $70 per week.

And now the strange part; over these past two weeks I’ve gone through five packages, twenty-five cartridges…the cartridges are 24mg Classic Tobacco. That equates to $25, less five cents...$12.50 per week. I’d be happy with $30/week. Having been a heavy smoker that just doesn’t seem to compute. I look at the quote from Volcano below and it makes even less sense. Is it a difference in smoking style or are some cartridges more generous juice-wise?

“The Volcano Fine Electronic Cigarette is much more cost effective than traditional cigarettes. On average and depending on your smoking style, our cartridges are equal to about 4 traditional cigarettes (a low estimate) and come in a pack of 5 for only $3.99. That's comparable to a pack of tobacco cigarettes at almost half the cost! Tobacco cigarettes cost an average of $6 per pack, and in some states are even much higher. Over the course of a year you can save thousands of dollars by switching to the Volcano.”

Lately I had been getting my cigs for $5/pack, $50/carton. That would equate to a dollar more per pack, less kits. And actually one can get cigs over the ‘net, or at a reservation, for under $4/pack. But e-cigs are healthier, ergo…

Analyze that one…

Thanks!

I have been using my ecig for two weeks. First day i used a cart, tasted kinda funny and was not impressed with the life of it. The next day my sampler of liquids came in and from reading the forum i decided to just drip on the atty. The taste is so much better and i kinda know when to stop smoking when the burnt taste starts.

anyway get your self a large bottle of your favorite flavor and try dripping. if thats not for you just learn to refill the carts it will save you alot more money.

Thanks, these were going to be my next research steps.

Refill: Being doing a little research here. Do not want to consider a dis-assembly, too much work, but the condom method looks doable.

Dripping: Next to research. Can a hypodermic be used? Can one drip from both ends, i.e., atomizer or cartridge? Assume one does not want to get liquid on the battery.

no dis-assembly just remove the filler wash and dry. every cart is different so find out how many drops go in yours push the wadding back in and top off with a few drops

Dripping, no need for a hypodermic, just take off the cart, remove the wadding and put it aside. Most small bottles come with dripper tops. again depending on what pv you have ad a few drops 1-3 directly on the bridge and put the now empty cart back on and vap away

OK, simple enough. How long does this last, two or three drags (puffs)?

My current supplier doesn't have juice so have to wait to experiment.

Thanks again!

Hey Alii i was right there with you. When if first startede vaping (using the blu GAH!) I would constantly order there pre filled carts. After about 3 months and about $200 dollars later i thought there had to be a better way than this! Anyway I looked hardcore into how to fill up my own carts. There are many sights out there to order juice from by my site of joice is Johnsons Creek smoke juice. They have a nice sampler of all 10 flavors (each bottel at 3.7 ml) for about 21 dollars plus shipping in handleing. Also when filling my own carts I came across the Blue foam mod and now my vaping experiance has changed dramatically. All in all with blue foam and buying a 20 dollar 30ml bottle i can smoke for a month for roughly 30-40 dollars which isn't bad considering smoking a pack a day was costing me 170+ a month. Also in my opinion your carts just go further with the blue foam mod because in most cases your atomizer will actually clean the cart not end up wasted soaked juice like many do. Anyway thats my 2 cents thanks.

Read this about "How to Drip."

jj2,

Thanks, this aged neophyte is learning more by the minute. Probably have to store away this info for about a month, have enough cartridges to last for over a month.

My current battery does have a hole, the unsealed auto type. I assume the hole is for the sensor that turns the battery, and the LED, on when puffing.

Should have done a lot more research before jumping into this new adventure.

Thanks again,

an Old Dog learning new tricks.

p.s.

Wasn't able to reply directly for some reason. Can I import 1000's of posts from other forums to up my totals? Oh well, just have to add a few more.

In three months I would've spent $900 plus on cigs, e.g., $200 wouldn't be all that bad. $2800 savings per year ain't too shabby. Will try to get to $50/month, spending $3600 per year on cigs is downright stupid.

Blue foam? My next area of research. Maybe by the end of next month I might rise to the level of a semi-expert in this field of e-cigs. A plethora of knowledgeable people at this forum.

Luck!

Sounds like you are doing very well.
The big plus of the eGo is for guys that smoked a lot, the bats. last about 6+ hrs.
The carts are easy to fill. E-liquid would cost between about $25 to about $50/ mo. for the more exp. stuff.

Think some missed the gist of my post. I can't believe that I'm running at the rate of a little over $50/month so far...toys excluded. A far cry from $300/month.

Is the more expensive stuff, the $50 per month e-liquid, worth it or...

Luck!

Yes, to me & besides you would probably want more than 1 juice. Search Halo & that would be about 60 ml/ mo. & you may be under that.

Someone who is familiar w/ your e-cig model could tell how many ml. you are using.
"... over these past two weeks I’ve gone through five packages, twenty-five cartridges ..."

Interesting; Volcano says, "... our cartridges are equal to about 4 traditional cigarettes (a low estimate) and come in a pack of 5 for only $3.99."

My cartridges from purecigs.com also come in a pack of 5, costing $4.99, but say, "1 cartridge equal to 10 cigarettes."

But that doesn't really say anything. For all I know they might be equal ml-wise, just a difference in quantifying estimates.

Oh well, I have enough cartridges to last til the end of July. Therefore I've decided to add some juice. Back to research...

Thanks!

Definatley worth it to me Johnson Creek is what I use and its great good taste good vapor and there customer service is excellent. They are American made and usually ship within 3 days here in Texas. I wouldn't recomend it for dripping because soem ppl have complained it kills attys. I have done it and have not had any problems out of my atomizers and am still going strong. The cheaper juices are sometimes made with less than desireable product and to me its just not worth it. I hear some will start agitating your throat or just taste harsh. Im not saying dont go to other sites hell im still experementing with different companies to but i keep going back to Johnsons Creek for the simple fact i know its a good liquid and i actually like there flavors but to each there own.

The add's all say something different because its entirley dependant on you. Thats saying if you use the carts as an analog puff on it and put it away you could get about 4-10 cigs worth estimated. Me i'm a chain vapor and I use it constantly so am currently using a Volcano and I would say I can get about an hour of actual vaping out of each cart before I refill. Though I also use the blue foam mod and some say that causes the juice to burn a little quicker but its worth it to me for the consistant taste/vapor.

Since you said you are using the kr808 don't listen to people talking about taking stuffing out or dripping.

The kr8 is a cartomizer design and works very well. A good cartomizer will last a bit over half a pack of cigs, or maybe a bit more. Your usage of 25 carts to replace about 10-15 packs would be about the same as I found.

For refilling you have 2 really good options. If your carts have a hard plastic end on the mouthpiece end, then the end is glued on. With these its easiest to use the condom fill method. If the end is a softer rubber, then its easy to pull it out and fill by simply dripping new juice right in there.

In the case of the condom method. Fill using the condom till juice starts trying to come out the other end. Then put the cap with the plug back on the battery end of the cart and put the cart in something where you can spin it around to force all he juice toward the battery end. Then fill it even more and do that again until its plenty full.

To know if its completely full blow gently through the cart. If it gurgles its full. Get a paper towel and blow just a bit out just enough that it stops gurgling.

A normal cart can hold about 35 drops of juice and the newer carts can hold 50 if you fill them this way.
