Ok, so I was wrong, I THOUGHT we were doing similar builds. I mean, I was looking at where you had terminated your cotton, and yes, that part is the same. But having made a thread and seeing what other people were saying, you are def using much less cotton than I was.
Ok so NOW I have the same build as you. And it is working MUCH better.

Yeah, That is about what I have. I am a little more wider, covering the base above the channel. Not down in the channels at all though.

No, you didn't break it lol

I agree with the Sonys. I was using AW IMRs, but am phasing them out with the Sony's. Never had an issue with the AWs and I really don't go down below .5ohm, but I just like knowing I have 30 amp capacity. Just makes me feel safer. The only thing I don't like is the flat top. Some of my mods get a little finicky with the flat top. Not that I can't make contact, just have to seat everything down JUST right.

Morning folks, glad to see the thread got going again... thought I broke it Sunday lol.

Not sure why people are scared of a mech, unless you are sub-ohming or very careless they're pretty foolproof.

Andria, careful in thinking that the "fuze" function of the kick will work as the same level of protection that a regulated mod will have, my "vape safe" fuse went out in the first 3 days and was useless. The good news is that even if you have a short you will feel the mod get hot very fast (not burn you hot if you stop pushing the fire button) and pull the battery out. In several cases I have had a battery get hot this way and was no worse for wear after cooling down.

The main thing is to simply learn to vape safe. Learn what your battery is rated for and don't go past it, you will notice a drop in performance (without a kick) long before you harm the battery and probably before you would recharge with a regulated mod (near 3.6 volts).

In any case I would recommend 30 amp batteries (Sony vtc4's and efest) since they give a high enough amp rating to go down to .2 ohms (even if you're not looking to go there) and will last nearly 18hrs even when vaping at .5 ohms.

Either way, be safe and remember to use your head... oh and get a mod that's vented. You'll thank me later ;)

Well considering I never build a coil less than 1.5 Ω and never turn the wattage up past 9 or 9.5w, I think regular IMR batteries are fine, no need for the extreme amp kind. I can't tolerate thick or hot vapor. And I wouldn't even look at any mod that doesn't have vent holes. But I was thinking that I'd go for the AW batteries for the mech, just for that edge of safety; Altsmoke has a pretty decent price on 18490 AW's, and that way I can keep my eFest '490s for my Sigelei. I like that length a lot, and of course it would be the longest I could use with a kick in the mech.

Not going to say I was right (that's silly) but I am glad that its working better for you. Just remember with kayfuns, and similar attys, its about balance.

If you get it right its heaven, figuring it out can be hell.

Actually it *should* be 18500's with a kick but, I don't know the mod in question. And if you like the length and don't build below that 1.5 ohms you don't really need anything fancy in terms of power or protection.

Well I've looked all over for 18500s by AW... all I can find are 18490s -- those jump up in the search results, and they're listed as 18500s on some sites, but the AW batteries actually say 18490. *shrug*

The last couple days, I've been having some fairly strong cravings. I didn't smoke, but it sure wasn't very comfortable, especially yesterday when my asthma was bothering me and I couldn't really vape as much as I would have liked. So, this morning, my daytime tank needed a top-off, so along with my regular daytime mix of Virginia, I also added some Virginia WTA. I have to say, it's been remarkably successful in preventing cravings; I really can't think of a single one that made me feel really uncomfortable all day. Anyone who's struggling with cravings, give the WTA a try. It's working really well for me. Hopefully this means that it will also work to prevent that negative frame of mind around the 3wk/3mo points.

No, no, you were right. lol I was just focusing on the wrong details.
Still being finicky. Went through a whole tank just fine. Second tank dry hits. But I see I am on the right track now.

I know what you mean about RBA tanks. I started with RDAs. Obviously, they are much simpler. With RBAs there isn't a lot of margin for error.
I find the same thing with my Taifun. It either leaks like crazy or dry hits. But I have that one figured out, pretty much. Just having the RIGHT amount of cotton. And of course, the right sized coil size affects that too. At least, it does with my builds.

The T5 I just got is a dream come true, though. It is amazing. Seems to be more forgiving as well.

The crazy thing is this about my Taifun. As you know, I use a VG heavy mix. I live in Las Vegas, and it gets into the 100s right now. I have been trying to vape more when I am out working. SO I make a build on my Taifun inside in the A/C. Get it working well. Go outside. I keep my gear shaded, but it's still hot outside. VG starts to lose viscosity in the heat. A good build inside becomes a leaking, gurgling build outside.

Glad it worked for you, here's how I deal with cravings...

I remember my cardiologist telling me that if my heart didn't improve they would have to cut... (insert graphic explanation) and implant a pacemaker. At 34 yrs old that finally seems to do it for me, even have him almost on board with vaping... almost.

Several people commented the same thing (thankfully I work inside an air conditioned semi) but I would suggest trying to build it and test it outside.

When I rewick (in a tank, I think) I will take a few pics for you to look at how I wick up a Kayfun. Not that its the right way, but it works in 3 diff clone styles so I'm sticking with it.

Still working on getting the ohms where I want them and wrapping around the screws for security, I end up a couple tenths high...

Something like that would stress me out so much I'd want a cigarette even more. Like the day my asthma was bothering me... just knowing I had to be careful how much I vaped, made me want to vape even more! Negative reinforcement doesn't work on me at all.

Girlfriends sister and her boyfriend are over for the weekend. Family Reunion on girlfriends side with all you can eat sweet corn (from the family members field that morning). Pretty baby contest Saturday morning. Entering child for the 4th year in a row. He has won every time so far. He has a secret weapon this time. A wink. Lol! He cocks his head sideways and gives a thumbs up as he winks. U told him he only gets ice cream if he looses. Lol. Girlfriend smacked me for it. Ice cream will be at the family reunion hours after the contest so he gets it regardless. I want him to win as long as he can. Im still not sure how he has about 5x the energy now than he had before his surgery. Ita like someone replaced the energizer battery during the surgery as the old one was reaching 3.5volts. Lol. Now its like he is at 5volts. Gah. He wakes up at 5am with mommy and doesn't nap then hoes to bed at 11pm. No clue how he does it.

Sorry for wall of text, on phone about to head to bed and cant tbink to separate every thought
