I've been vaping for a little over 3 weeks and I'm still smoking. A pack of analogs now lasts me 4 days instead of 12 hours. The one time I really crave the analogs are right when I wake up. I'll chain smoke 2 and then won't have any more for hours. Then with the third one, I'll vape and smoke at the same time. Helps to remind me "oh yeah, vapor tastes better than smoke, plus I'm not killing myself." Maybe I should do that with the first and second analogs as well. My body DOES crave those 4000+ chemicals.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Many of us (myself included) have experienced the cravings for an analog occasionally, and early on (3 weeks definitely counts as early) the cravings were pretty annoying.

In the beginning I was smoking a pack a day, got my ecig and I cut in half, then again, then after about 4 days was down to just the morning and night cig. The night left easily, the morning didn't. Eventually I just held out for a week or so, chainvaping like a madman, and then tried my morning analog.

The taste was terrible and after I finished it (I've never been one to put out a cig..ever) I switched to a high HIGH nic strength in the morning. Adding 5v to my device collection also helped immensely.

Now occasionally I still got that urge around my smoking friends and I bummed one...then after holding in vomit for about 10 minutes I was set. The urge occasionally shows up but I've got it drilled in my mind how nasty they taste...now I just associate the urge with picking up my 5 volter!
Don't feel bad about it, whatever you do.

Hope this helps!

Yep. It took me over 2 months to quit entirely. I didn't put much effort into it (it was easy!). I just tried to vape more and smoke less. Went from 3 packs a day down to about 1, then a few cigarettes, then a couple, then... NONE! Sometime around the first of this year, I realized I hadn't smoked since a day or two after Christmas, and didn't want one. I'm not even sure what day I quit. :)

Went from a pack and a half a day immediately down to eight a day (with coffee in the morning, after meals and a couple in the evening). I cut this down to about 3 a day over a month. What made the biggest difference in quitting completely was getting a 5 volt PV which gave much more of the feel of the real thing. I've been free of analogs for a year and 3 months, now.

Hang in there.

I have been using a pv for about a month. I didn't have any cigarettes for a week and than I just started craving one. Rather than sitting around thinking about how much I want a cigarette, I just went outside and had one. I didn't really think that it tastes horrible, just less pleasant than vaping.

I am at the point where I have 1 cigarette every day or every other day. I will probably cut them out eventually, but I am not that worried about it. What I am worried about is not having the freezer space for 12 oz. of loose tobacco!

Yep, smoked too wile I also vaped. And yes I found myself needing less and less of the analogs as time went by. But once I was able to achieve my nicotine saturation point with the PV only. I was able to just give up the analog all together. Sorry but I wasn't counting how long I've been analog free. I think it's been somewhere between 6 or 8 weeks now. All that matters to me is I am free of the analogs. Finally

First, Congratulations on your initial success in reducing your cigarette use considerably. Don't beat yourself up over this as many will and continue to smoke cigs for some time but also realize that everyone is different and this is what is actually working for you.

Some things just can't be rushed, so I would suggest that instead of grabbing a cigarette when that urge hits, grab your e-cig instead and start vaping. This will at least kill the initial urge for the nicotine and then after a few minutes if you still feel you need to light one up, go for it. But, realize also that you don't have to smoke that cigarette completely either. Take a puff or two and put it out and in most cases you may find that you're all set.

The most important thing (to me anyway) is that you have got to train your brain to accept e-cigs as your new way of smoking. Realize that you are in fact getting nicotine, but not getting a lot of the other additional addictive chemicals that tobacco contains, but you can quickly do without.

So don't automatically smoke 2 cigarettes first thing in the morning. Cut it down to just one, or not even a whole one. Start putting any cigarette you light out after just a few puffs, then you can always finish smoking that one later in the day if you really need to.

And one more thing. Just read all of the amazing success stories and all the benefits that you are already reaping and the many more that will come in the not-too-distant future.

Here's to a much healthier future to you!

Heck, I've been at it for a YEAR and still haven't quit smoking. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but few will admit it. (And then there are the majority that give up on vaping and don't even keep trying.)

At this point I am down to 2 cig's a day. I found that my biggest improvements came when I got something new. First it was switching from an 801 to a 510. Then finding a juice I liked--this took 6 months.

But the latest, which got me down from 6 a day, was an eGo with a LR (1.5 ohm) atty. The closest thing to a cigarette taste and draw I've found ! Highly recommended !

Good luck and don't worry too much. As long as you make progress, even slowly, you'll
eventually triumph.

I smoked and vaped for the first two months, never limiting my cigarettes, but naturally finding myself reducing the number of cigarettes, until I was down to 1 to 3 cigarettes (morning and night). Eventually, about two months in, I realized I had skipped my morning cigarette, and didn’t even miss it, and didn’t have a taste for the evening cigarettes either.

Since that time in August, 2009, the few times I’ve had the urge to smoke I just pictured myself taking a cigarette out and lighting it, and the urge disappeared. Of course I still haven’t declared myself a non-smoker, because for me that was always a stumbling block, so now I’m just a smoker who doesn’t.

Remember, you've been a smoker for a while, so don't put pressure on yourself for not being able to quit immediately. The journey for each of us is unique.

I still have a smoke or two a day right now, because I WANT it, not because I NEED it. That's the big difference for me. I don't panic if I don't have an analog around. I might panic if I didn't have my 510 charged, but that's it.
since it's a choice and not a requirement (to smoke an analog) I'm comfortable with it, and the longer I go the less I even want the analog.

for me it's in the evenings I want one. I've got a habit of vaping 36mg in the morning and 18mg throughout the day. the 36 gives me that kick to get past it when I have a craving. If I did that in the evening I wouldn't miss the analog at all, but I don't stress too much about it either way.

Got a lot of old timers posting here.
Oh, I don't just smoke 1-2 cigs a day, I'm still close to a pack. But that's down from 2-3 pks/day. I still want them in the morning, after eating and when I drink some vino. Admittedly I started e-cigs so I felt better on long flights and to that extent it has worked out well for me.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems that I always run into stumbling blocks though. I'm down to a third of a bottle of e-liquid and won't have more until Wednesday, so I know I'll be smoking more analogs. GRRRRRRR!!!

I'm using a Blu and 16mg nicotine strength menthol. Belive it or not, this works very well for me. Great TH and the vapor is amazing once you do the pyramid teabag cart mod. I guess my solution is just to stock waaayyy up on e-liquid. I have a feeling that if I can vape without the fear of "running out", I won't rely so heavily (like 5-6 a day is heavy LOL) on the analogs. My goal was to smoke my last analog on July 4th. I think I can make it with no problem, but if I don't, I'm not going to beat myself up.
