He may not be drinking enough water - easy to get vaper's tongue. Not sure if I mentioned that PG gives me a harsh hacking dry cough and a bit of a sore throat, if that's the type of cough he has.

I got my dad coffee, black cherry and cigarette flavor ejuice... at 1st he was able to taste the difference.. now when I ask what he is vaping he says they all taste the same... is that normal? I usually have to figure it out by smelling the vape..

I am not a smoker, but bought my dad all the ecig stuff to help him stop. He has been smoking for about 50yrs. He is using the ecig everyday but still sneaking in a cigarette here and there. Even when using the ecig he still would rather a cigarette. He has been vaping consistently now for close to a month. Has a few different flavors that he says are okay. He has a halo triton and I just bought him a aspire k1 with vv battery.

He still coughs on the ecig using vg e juice.

Does the want for a cigarette ever go away?

Thanks

Hi
I can relate to your dad..I'm 61yrs old and been smoking 1-2 packs a day of Marlborough for over 30 yrs until my granddaughter introduced me to vaping.. ..at first, I too coughed a alot, so I saw my doctor to discuss if vaping was even safe for me..he explained that water vapor is indeed better than cigarette smoke and to give my lungs two weeks to heal from the constant irritation caused by smoking.. He advised once I started to vape do not smoke cigs at all..in other words do not do both ..so I did just that, and in less than a week I could vape deep lung hits even, without the cough..started out with 24mgs of nic in my juice using a spinner and mini ProTank.. Now I've got two Provari's/Kayfuns and two 26650 mech mods dripping in RDA's with only 6mgs of nic..Thanks to vaping my acquired nicotine habit is satisfied more than that nasty cigarette could ever do for me..I feel a lot better and have lost weight as vaping seems to cut my appetite, especially for snacks.. (drink alot of water though)
Been tobacco free for over two years now and have avoided approx 15,000 cigs, and have saved approx $5,000 not buying those expensive cancer sticks here in California anymore.. I hope your Dad sticks just to vaping.. He will quit coughing in no time too if he sticks with it...Wish your Dad all the best on his vaping journey..[emoji4]

My son got me started on vaping, 40+ years smoking KOOL analogs. I've been vaping for about 10 weeks. The first five weeks were weaning myself off the cigs. I have been steam powered and smoke free for 5 weeks:D. There are still times that I do crave a cigarette, but I just hit the button and all is good. Give us old guys the benefit of the doubt, at least we're trying.

The desire to "smoke" won't go away while he is still smoking the occasional cigarette, neither will his cough while vaping. He must want to quit smoking before he actually will, all you can do is provide him with an acceptable alternative which you have.

I love tobacco, smoked cigarettes like a freight train and became a pipe aficionado. I spent over 40 years burning tobacco before I discovered vaping. I wasn't even thinking about quitting but was lucky enough to have stumbled upon flavored NET and simply preferred it over smoking. I haven't ended my affair with tobacco, I just stopped burning it.

I tried those ego style VV batteries and atomizers with expensive replaceable heads but quickly gave them away, wispy anemic vapor may suit some but certainly wasn't for me. I use simple mech mods and RBAs, a learning curve WELL worth the effort/trouble. Vapor production and the speed in which it is produced should at least replicate that of smoking a cigarette in my opinion.

For diehard smokers, a great NET on good equipment is hard to beat. Especially when ample nic is present.

Honestly these things depend on the individual. For instance my brother and I both smoked for probably 15 years and we both got started on vaping at the same time, even went to the shop and bought our starter kits at the same time. It's been months and I'm almost exclusively vaping and he's still smoking. I've found that the flavors drew me in because it tastes better than a cigarette. My brother disagrees and is the opposite. In his defense though, he does use his stuff sometimes though, I'd estimate a 10-20% drop in cigarettes smoked depending on the day. Sometimes he vapes all day and sometimes he doesn't touch it. Like yesterday when we we're hanging out he was puffing on this root beer flavor all night and didn't go out for a smoke at all. Today I filled his EMOW with some new MBV juice i just got today and he didn't touch it once. But as long as he's replacing at least a few smokes with vaping i consider it a victory.
I do worry about his health, he had a mass removed from his thyroid last year, everything went okay and he's fine, but that would have scared the .... out of me if it was me. Hell it did and it wasn't me. I can only provide the tastiest possible juices and provide an example, but I can't make him quit and that's fine with me.

I occasionally sneak in a smoke when he goes out for one though. But in my defense i rarely smoke more than one cigarette a day anymore. And even then I get halfway through and just want my vaporizer lol.

It really depends on the person. 2.5 years and there are many times that I still would love to have a smoke. Although it is easily suppressed, it does take willpower not to have it. In the early stages of vaping I would get mad at myself for still smoking which in turn would lead to more smoking. Silly? Probably, but it is what it is. I finally just smoked and vaped. At some point, I just never stopped by the gas station to buy a pack.

Think of it as harm reduction instead of totally quitting. As my kids would put it, every cigarette is 10 minutes off my life. Spin it a bit and every cigarette not smoked is 10 minutes of life gained.

To add many of my liquids basically taste the same as well. I do get very small differing flavors for a couple minutes then it all is similar. I vape non-flavored alot. I look at it anything tastes better than a smoke with one caveat. The thing I miss most is that first cup of coffee in the spring, summer and fall sitting outside while first lighting up a cig. I still love the smell of a freshly lit smoke when someone else is smoking it. The stale smell is just nasty anymore.
