This is a bit early, perhaps, for me to post here, as I have been smoke-free for all of two days. However, to me, this is a triumph. Almost 25 years of smoking, with gradually-increasing nervousness as I reached the end of each pack (am I going to run out? OMG, I need to get more tobacco!)... and yet for two days now, I've ignored the full pack that I was carrying around with me in lieu of vaping.

I suppose that only time will tell if this continues, but I want it to continue. I hadn't intended to quit smoking when I started vaping, only to reduce the stench of cigarette smoke that clung to me and to anyone else who was riding with me in a car. But I discovered, rapidly, that I didn't need the analogs as much.

The last cig was automatic. I was on the phone with a friend, I lit up... and then sort of stared at my hand and tried to figure out why it tasted so terrible. Then it dawned on me that I'd used a lighter for that one, rather than pushing a button. Haven't lit up since then, and there's part of me that keeps informing me that something's wrong, that I'm forgetting something... and the rest of me is celebrating the fact that I'm nowhere near as congested as I was, and that I can smell things better already. And I started washing every single item of clothing that I own to try to eradicate the smoker-smell (which, as I'd never smoked in the house, may be easier to do than I'd anticipated.)

I suppose there's a part of me that's going to flail for a while, but I can deal with a little internal flailing. After 25 years, I didn't light up for two days in a row. So to me, this is a triumph and a great start.

That's a great start! Not all smoking addiction is due to nicotine. There are the routines, the habits and
having something in your hand and mouth. I still reach for my lighter on occasion too. For me, anyway, as long
as I am not going through nicotine withdrawal, the other addictive habits are much easier to deal with. It gets easier.

Ladypixel you are off to a great start and you should be proud of yourself! Half the battle is realizing that the e-cig is giving you the nicotine you need as well as the vapor, the hand-to-mouth habit, etc. You'll be surprised at how much more your health can and will improve in a short period of time. Before long, you will not like the stink of cigarettes any more.

Two days may not sound like a big deal but I think it really is! Congrats!

congrates just keep vaping. don't let yourself convince you to smoke thats what was hard for me was trying to keep myself from convincing myself that I was not ready to quit. been 3 weeks now and those rough patches that you go through where you vap vap vap vap have finally settled down and the time seemed to pass pretty quick of course I don't think I have gotten much done in the past three weeks but at least I am smoke free... hang in there they told me it would get easier too and it really has. I do still have the same 6 smokes that were left in the pack the day my pv arrived

EDIT: I see someone mentioned reaching for thair lighter still and I have found that having that lighter has actually helped me, kind of a comfort thing, whenever I stand up its almost natureal for me to reach in my pocket and grab my lighter, I find myself walking around with it in my hand from time to time...

Well, so far I've successfully kept off the stinkies, and there's a full pack sitting in the bedroom still. I've used Altoids tins for years to carry my cigarettes in... another vaper recommended that I save that tin and eventually make it into a mod-box. I might do that. :) I still feel for my lighter, but that's more out of longstanding habit than anything else. I'm surprised how rarely I notice that I don't have the cigarettes themselves on me, but the lighter may be a carrying-toy for a while.

I do definitely hit those patches where I do nothing but vape, but you know, that's why I have a bunch of flavors of juice! :)

You mentioned the Altoids tin and it just so happened that I used one to make my own 3.7 510 mod a couple of years ago (see pic below). It actually worked quite well but then I made another mod using an Eclipse tin and used that one for well over a year until I got myself a Provari about a month ago.

Good Luck!

Big triumphs are made up of a lot of little triumphs...be proud and congratulations on your great start! Good luck to you and if you ever need any support or encouragement, let me know... :)
