I'm not good at organizing, but I'm putting in the effort so that my stash doesn't take over my whole house. This is a little corner of my converted DIY closet where I have my rebuildables. If I have a mess, I can just close the closet door until I get it reorganized.

That just made it to my wishlist as well.
That may accidentally end up ordered when I get my tax returns. When I see things like that my logical mind is relegated to a corner, tied up, and blindfolded. A few weeks later, I wonder why the hell I have a expensive pretty looking item sitting in my apartment, and so much less money in my bank account... It's a problem.
Part of the reason I am looking into getting a Micro Tiny House, if you can't fit an item into your house, even your illogical emotional mind is forced to be reasonable. As it is, I am slowly being squeezed into a smaller and smaller place in my apartment, as the books pile up. Eventually, I will be living on the deck... but I will have an excellent library.
All my books are in storage in my brother's garage. I just hope they aren't getting damp and ruined. I'm waiting to bring them home when we get a house. There's no room for them here. Actually, there won't be enough room for them there either. But, there will be a garage to stack them in while I go through them and decide what to keep.

That's what I'll do once I get my books home. Until then, might as well enjoy the space to spread out and get to see my stuff. Although it is a little embarrassing to have on exhibit all my stash. It's a lot!

Sounds like it's time to build some makeshift giant bookcases. Thats my plan, is to make a solid wall a book case. Sure, I might not be able to keep anything else in my apartment, but books are more important.
My roommates books are double stacked in his bookcase (2 rows per shelf). Fortunately, I've managed to keep mine nicely on display, but that is quickly becoming impossible.

/cry. I hate this time of year, everyone talking about what they are going to get with their return. Meanwhile, I always have to pay in. Like they didn't fleece me for enough throughout the year.

Get digital books and use an e-reader device or app. /nod
The secret to getting a good tax return is to make so little money, it's not worth the governments time to take it from you.

Yeah, I have a Kobo Mini, and try to buy my books first as e-books. I keep my paperback books to a minimum, and prefer to have those as e-books. However, I have a soft spot for hardback books, and have a really difficult time paring those down.
I actually have such a love for hardcover books, I've looked into binding books myself. Not sure if I'll ever get around to that, but hopefully that becomes a thing.

When I had the space, I measured my books by an estimate of how many feet of shelves they took up. At one point, I had about 140 feet of books (in 11 large bookcases) plus some stacked that wouldn't fit. I was forced to go through them and got rid of all I could make myself get rid of at one point. But, I'm sure I still own at least half of them. I need to repeat that process a few times to get it down to a manageable amount. I simply don't have that kind of room anymore.

Downsizing from your own apartment to one little room is hard. The first half of life, you collect. The second half, you thin down and let go of.

Wow, that is an impressive collection. I don't even have a fraction of that amount. Perhaps you could hang some shelves from the ceiling. You only really need a 7 foot tall space in order to feel like you have enough room. Most rooms have considerably more then that, so hanging shelves might be an option.
