Today I received my package of e-cig supplies delivered by a USPS delivery woman. I had to sign for the package and when I did the lady looked at me and said "BE CAREFUL"?

I was thinking how does she know what I am getting in this package?

The package was not labeled with anything referring to e-cigarettes.

Do they check the contents of our packages or what?
It might have been x-rayed, as the USPS x-rays random packages regardless of origin. If you're thinking the answer is to have "Do Not X-Ray" put on shipping labels, don't do it - it translates to "Please X-Ray Me".

I always have two different carriers with my China orders, the China order always comes by 10:30 and the rest of the mail at normal time (more like 2 pm). Think it may have something to do with it being express, don't know for sure.

You're right. USPS has a policy where they prefer international express mail to be delivered before noon. My carrier does hers before she hits the morning business route, and then retracks to regular residential mail. Last order, she just bundled up my regular mail too, and I received it at my door, early.

I am in Michigan and live in what is considered the "country" even though I am only 5 miles from town. I receive my e-cig supplies from Jersey priority mail. When my carrier comes with packages, she sits in the driveway and honks her horn too. I didn't have to sign anything.

I think that it depends on the size of the package and your mail box. If the package is too large to fit in your mail box as mine was, they honk the horn. If it's too large to fit in the carriers vehicle, they may send another carrier.

Here when the package is too large for the vehicle, they leave you a notice and you have to go to the post office and pick it up.

I do agree that seems how she gave you a "be careful" warning and the package appeared to be opened and resealed, someone was snooping. I doubt it had anything to do with where it came from. I would report the incident to your postmaster.

I too had a rather strange thing happen with USPS a cpl of weeks ago. Normally my e-cig stuff that has to be signed for comes via my normal carrier. On this particular order they sent 2 carriers to my house on the same day, one with all my "normal" mail and a second that had my e-cig order from China that had to be signed for. The 2nd one came up on my porch and knocked on the door, the regular carrier has NEVER done that. She sits out front and blows the horn till I walk out to her car. I consider the extra carrier weird, but as far as I can tell harmless. If I was the paranoid conspiracy theory type I'd probably be freaking out though. Not saying any of Ya'll are, so don't take it personally. Who knows, maybe it's some crazy USPS conspiracy to intimidate us into not ordering our supplies etc. LOL!!!

I had the same thing happen, except the second carrier called me and told me she was coming! I thought it to be very strange indeed.

If it was shipped from China using EMS--when it gets the US and passes customs--it then gets picked up by USPS Overnignt Express Mail. In many areas, there is a postal carrier assigned only to deliver Express Mail as it is guranteed to be delivered by either noon or 3 pm.

Now the ones from China have no guarantee--they are placed with all the other ones in your area. Just ask the carrier if they are assigned to deliver all the Express mails for the day. That is why you have two different carriers---------Sun

Sometimes I get two different carriers sometimes not, but then again I am on a walking route so who knows who my mail carrier is on some days. Either way, they have tried to deliver at least twice during the day. I usually miss the first one (before Noon) but am usually home to get the second one (before three). I sign the card when I get it and leave at the mailbox just in case I was to miss the second delivery attempt. ;)

Here's something odd... my order from RuyanDirect came today. My fiance was home to accept it, but the carrier told her that I had to sign for it and left the pink card. Now I have to go to the post office on Monday to pick it up. Two more days of waiting... *sigh*.

On a positive note: came through New York, and tracking doesn't list it being handed over to customs at all...
