I used e cigs for quite a while so not "that" new to the "modern" way of smoking. But they were cartridges. As far as the liquids, are they all the same? Obviously flavors are flavors. But are the liquids interchangeable with any vaporizer?

Just picked up an EGO (without any sample liquid... who knew!? ) :) and from the instructions it says something like insert the needle in the tank. I saw a youtube vid that seemed to show a needle like bottle. So what am I missing?

And the questions keep coming! The various (really strange) flavors... are they all tobacco based or not? I'm not sure I'd be into smoking a strawberry. :)

Liquid is just liquid. If you have a refillable tank, you can put any kind of liquid into it.

You could put any e-liquid from any vendor in the tank you got I'm sure. No, they aren't tobacco based unless it states that it is. If you are mainly interested in tobacco flavors to start with, I heard Halo is good. It may also be worth looking up NET's. Naturally extracted tobacco. However, be prepared that it's unlikely you'll find something that tastes like a cigarette. I don't think I have heard of any liquid that can replicate the taste of burning tobacco, as nothing burns during vaping. I also wouldn't count out the other flavors. I actually started with cherry, and I loved it.

Thanx, Frank. :) I'm gonna see what Jack Daniels taste like! LOL (yeah I'm kidding!) (umm... I think...) ;)
Anyway, you're saying there is no tobacco in the flavored ones unless they say there is? A list of ingredients doesn't seem to exist for most of them.

Honestly, I'm not really sure if these will work for me. I'm just used to having a cig in my hand. This'll be like using a baseball bat. :)

I dunno, Tink. The e-cigs do a great job of tasting like a cigarette. But almost as expensive as real ones! Not to mention batteries don't really last long and it becomes more of a PITA than anything else. :)

But still, no one has come up with an answer to the "needle" thing. Is something on that order required for the EGO?

Here's the thing. There's no tobacco in any of the liquids. You can get tobacco flavored liquid but it's not tobacco. Now some of the fruits are actually quite good.

However if you like the tobacco flavors and maybe something on top I recently tried Uncle Junk's Jon Wayne and I really like it. Also there's Betelgeuse from Nicoticket. I have some of their H1N1 as well. Kinda strong not sure I like the taste, letting it steep see if mellows a bit or not.

As others have said you can use any liquid with your device. Currently I'm trying out different tanks because they hold a lot of juice at one time and are easy to re-fill.

And I'm sure you can find JD flavor out there if you really want, or put a few drops in a juice you like ;)

I was a pack a day smoker for 16 years. I didn't think vaping would work for me either, and I certainly didn't think cherry would work. My mother bought me my first set up after my grandmother died of lung cancer that spread to her brain. Under the circumstances, I had to promise to try. Past trying, I didn't promise anything about quitting. Surprisingly enough, over the first week, I started vaping more and more, and smoking less and less. Cigarettes actually started tasting BAD to me. It was astonishing. After going my first 24 hours without a cigarette at all, I tried one out of curiosity. I couldn't even finish it. It tasted like burning manure. Of course, I'm sure it's different for everyone. This has been the only thing to ever work for me though, and the fact that I can't take te taste of them anymore is how I know I'll never go back to smoking. Just give it a whirl, and don't limit the flavors to try. I'm currently vaping a kiwi marshmallow mix I never thought I'd like. I tried it at a vaper lounge though and it was divine!

Nicotine is in the liquid just depends on what mg you choose in my experience one pack at day smoker =18mg of nicotine
as far as tobacco flavors they are out there just don't expect them to taste like a cigarette simply because a cigarette is on fire and that fire makes for complex flavors that seems to not be replicated.
If you are looking for a tobacco flavor that's close halo seems to be the place to go. Or I actually like mount bakers American tobacco.

I started out using tobacco flavors but found I was missing out after trying green apple flavor yum!.

If you have a vape shop close you can see if they will let you taste some juices before you buy

Good luck my friend

Well everything is just flavoring. I mean no matter what the flavor is, even if it's a tobacco flavor, it's still only going to contain:

flavoring
VG
PG
nicotine

I see you're Canadian, I'm trying to get my dad on this vaping so I ordered him a juice that mimics the flavor of his brand (DuMu).

Hopefully this is helpful.

You may or may not really need something with a "needle" - a photo of your gear (or Googled pic of identical gear) would help us help you!

The flavors are made by mixing, well...flavoring and PG and VG - mostly.
So what you look for is the vendors description - MOST vendors have things grouped: "Tobaccos" "Fruits" "Desserts" - like that.
And if they call a juice "Watermelon Punch" it's not going to be watermelon punch AND tobacco - it's just a fruit bowl vape.

I STARTED with tobacco flavors, and "vanilla tobacco" - but now, I have one or two "sweet, light" tobacco flavors I like, but at least half the time, I'm vaping something else!

You may want to try "RY4" which is a blend of tobacco and vanilla and caramel - almost every juice-maker has an RY4 in their lineup.

Interesting, strong-flavored tobaccos - but it won't taste like a cigarette: Halo
Very good, more realistic tobacco flavors: Heather's Heavenly Vapes
Cheaper juice, but a good vendor (plan to let their juice sit for a week before it tastes good): Mount Baker Vapor

eliquid is typically PG,VG, nicotine liquid, flavours. PG is thin like water, VG is thick like treacle - the ratio of one to another will depend how well your liquid wicks i.e. how wet it keeps your wick. Not wet = tastes burned and nasty.

Some tanks, usually the ones that use a cartridge, are sealed top and bottom with very tight fitting rubber rings and to fill them will require a needle. Clearomizers are tanks with a wick at the top and they have screw-top caps and can be filled easily by dribbling liquid down the side.

Once you're recharging batteries, and find a "juice-delivery" system that you like, you can cut your cost way back.
Me, I like "collecting" kinda fancy gear, but I'm basically equipped, and mix my own juice.
If I wanted to (or had to) I could vape for the next 2 years without spending another nickel, expending only juice - total cost maybe $1.50 in a week instead of $40 for cigarettes...

Thanx guys. Lotta great info here. Much appreciated.
But as far as e-cigs... everything I've read is they do contain nicotine. And they sure tasted like it. I guess these are different. But... cherry? WHERE! LOL. I like cherry but haven't seen it anywhere.

Just remember that nicotine and tobacco aren't the same thing. That cherry e-liquid can have just as much nicotine as a tobacco flavored eliquid.
