Stupid question #326...3 wire meters

Below is a copy/paste of my post to Torkemada's Torke box v2.0, but I thought I'd ask here to see if somebody not subscribed can answer my 3 wire meter question...

Tork, from the pic that looks like a 3 wire meter...from what I've read on the ebay sellers sites those need an independent power source other than the source you are trying to meter (ok fine, I get that)...but then I thought, if you power the meter directly off the batts (before the reg) does that constitute an independent power source?...is that what you did?...and my last and even dumber question, does it work?

Cause if that's the case, why aren't we using LCD meters?

Yes, the battery voltage is your source and then the green led goes to the atomizer to read that voltage. I am using one of these and thats what I am doing. I think asdaq has one.... you can check with him to be sure

Thanks tons Notsmoking, I wondered about that when I'm doing my "searching for cool stuff to mod on ebay" nights...certainly opens up some possibilities...

Sorry, but I don't have one and can't think of who does. I know of someone with a green display, but otherwise the same as the 1s-6s everyone else has. Quigs, what good things did ebay decide to ship to you?

Sorry asdaq.... I thought it was you that was asking about one before Yes Quigs, I have that voltage meter and it works good..... better than the 1s -6s that I have....
The 3 wire one that you were asking about does not blink like the 1s -6s it displays the constant voltage when activated. When you adjust the voltage it is on and can see it changing unlike the other.

it`s works but i don`t know what current drain from batt`s in stand buy, probably not much.
