hello reoville, this is my first post here. nice to meet you all.
I just ordered the sub ohm kit for the mini 2.1. I don't intend to do massively sub-ohm on it, although there are 15 amp 18500's which could fire some pretty low coils safely. I do have a couple of questions though that i'm hoping someone can clear up for me.
1.) is it true that i will no longer need to noalox my firing pin?
2.) at what point will the spring collapse,or will it at all?
3.)Whats an atty that can fit in my non lp mini 2.1 that already has bottom feed and dual air holes? 3 post is a plus, but not required i am only going to build dual coils. i can enlarge holes, but i'm not too sure that i can drill a second hole dead center. I AM ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE THAT I CANT mod IT TO BF.

I am very well versed in battery safety... so lets not turn this into another one of THOSE threads

thanks in advance reoville

Hi Massey! Welcome to the Ville!

1) As far as I know, yes, Noalox will no longer be needed (or at least not nearly as much.)

2) The spring will collapse in the case of a hard short. The kits just came out so I'm not sure if the limits have been thoroughly field tested, but I don't think you will be able to get anywhere near low enough resistance with 18500s to drop it.

3) I'm not sure of any stock atties that are 14mm and have dual air hole, but I'm sure if you asked nicely Rob would oblige and do it for you on a RM2 or Igo-s.

thanks for the quick response.
In all actuality i am not too worried about the spring collapsing.Really it was just curiosity since it seemed that having some kind of fuse system was top priority of robs in the modding your mods thread. Not really that important but a handy bit of information to know.

really should have thought about asking rob about drilling out an atty, but order was already placed.Guess ill wait a bit to see if anyone else has some suggestions before i message (beg) him.

Regarding a possible future purchase i have one more question.

4.) if i were to get a tumbled raw grande would it make ground connection on a kick2 without the copper sheet or any other type of grounding mod. i know i'd still have to make a holder, i'm only talking about the negative connection.

I believe it would, but I'd wait for other kick users for a definite answer.

I don't use a Kick, but I'm almost 100% sure that it'll make a good connection with the tumbled aluminum body without anything else needed. People sand the anodizing or paint off the inside to get to the raw aluminum for that very reason.

1) you are correct no more noalox...and NO MORE FILING. Don't file this one...at all.
2) the spring should do the same job it always does.
3) wish I could answer this for you...i'm totally hung up on the rm2.

4) You are correct...as long as it is the raw version, not the clear coat.

just an update:
Just got my s/o kit installed on my mini.:D i do think im probably the first to mess this up. I tore the insulator, then lost the one that i had just pulled out. Salvaged an insulator from an old protank head, snipped it to fit and voila it worked. Wow what a difference, running a twisted 30g 1 ohm micro. So much of a difference that i enlarged my airhole to 1/16th. now im thinking ill probably just order another rm2 to just keep stock and run a more normal 1ohm coil in. but this one thats already modified is now in open season, will probably enlarge the air hole some more and the postholes so i can stack dual coils. The batteries i have right now are rated for 8 amps so i figure i can go as low as .7 safely (6amps). Now when i get my 15 amps in then i can go as low as .38 and still be in my 75% of rated amp draw safety zone, pretty sure i will never go that low but its nice to have that option. As of now the lowest ive ever gone is .9 (not on reo) so it should be fun to see what the s/o craze is all about on the best device possible.:D

well its time for the final update. It turns out i sold myself short (barely), I was able to mod a little dripper for bottom feed. I bought it at a B&M in town so i don't know exactly which it is but it is basically a knockoff igo-s, don't care, it fits in my catch cup. dremelled the firing pin, drilled out an extra air hole, drilled the original air hole so they're both 5/64. so rather massive. slapped a .8 ohm dual coil with 30g and i have to say in my almost 3 years of vaping this is the first time I've needed to lower my nic from 18. switched back to my mild rm2 build, when the bottle is empty ill try again with 9 mg on the new atty. not thinking i'm going to be going any further into sub ohm because it already blows clouds and has me cutting my nicotine. Mission accomplished GREAT SUCCESS.
