Atties have wires and electronic stuff in them right? wouldn't submerging one in liquid short this stuff out? is the wire section sealed so liquid can't get in? I want to soak my atties in this stuff:

But putting an atty underwater just doesn't make sense to me. Can someone explain how this wouldn't kill the atty? Thanks.

You can submerge an atty because it's basically a coil of wire that generates heat from the flow of current. You wouldn't want to use something that could damage the wire of course. There are many threads discussing various products that can be used.

First thing I would ask myself:
Do I want to inhale any of this product that's left behind?

I don't know anything about this particular product, so I can't really answer the question. That's where I would start if I were you.

I personally clean my atties in warm distilled water and it works great for me. There's also a thread discussing the use of diet cola. I've tried it but I didn't get the results some others were getting.

Sorry if this didn't answer your question.

I've been soaking mine for 6 months without a problem. I guess the thing to remember is there are no "electronics" in it. Just wires. And, in case you haven't though about it, when you direct drip or put a cartridge in place you're adding liquid.

The trick is to let it fully dry before using. I stuff a rolled up paper towel in the end and leave it propped up over night.

You can use water, diet cola is better. I use lemon juice (for the acidity) that I heat in the microwave first then add the atty. I add an addition 30 minute soak in hot water to dilute any left over lemon juice. I do this about once a week and the day after you really get the pay off when you see clouds of vapor and a nice easy draw. It really cleans out the air chambers.

Just make sure to prime your atomizer first with a few drops. Not a bad idea to leave the cart on for a minute before firing her up.

P.S. Even just a soak overnight can do wonders. Try it.

My first thought is this: Be very careful about using any cleaner which you would not want in your mouth. Things like water, diet coke, alcohol (i.e., vodka, grain alcohol - which I wouldn't drink straight, but diluted, ok - not rubbing alcohol, methanol, etc.), vinegar (ditto), mouthwash.

If you're going to use something that doesn't meet the "in my mouth" test then at least give the atty a post-wash bath to let the toxins dilute. Looking at the label of the Heat n Kleen, it's supposed to be mixible in water, so I'd at minimum give it a pure (well, tap) water bath after the HnK treatment - maybe two - before I'd consider using it.

That point aside: as long as your atty is not connected to a power source, there is no electricity going through it, and therefore there will be no electrical short circuits. Just make sure you dry it out before using it again, and you'll be fine. I've heard 24 hours recommended, that seems doable. You won't short your atty out, as long as it's dry before you plug it into a battery.

makes sense. Doesn't matter if a wire gets wet, it will still work, as long as you dry it off. (I think this deserves a face palm). Anyway that heat n clean stuff is awsome. Only took me 3 hours of reading atty cleaner threads to find it lol. Posted by Sun of all people. I eat popcorn at the movies, they use that to clean the popcorn machine. I think yes, I would put that in my mouth.

This seems like a good idea but, now I can't find the post with the instructions (on another board) on how to use this stuff. And its being delivered in a few days! If you happen accross it surfing the internet can you please post it here. Thanks.

*edit

founded it

Wearing glasses, but not using gloves, I took a small sauce pan and put 4 inches deep of water in it and heated the water on the stove on medium to 160 degrees F. I then placed the 801 dismantled atomizer and 2 teaspoons of the product in the pan and let clean for 12 minutes. At that point I turned the burner up to high and it quickly foamed up and over the pot. I took the pot off the stove and let stand for another 15 minutes and rinsed well
