Kangertech SUBVOD Starter Kit $34.95
Good for beginner to sub-ohm? It's a "deal" I guess, it's marked down to $29. I've never tried sub-ohm before but today I was looking for something better than my cigalike, especially after buying two delicious flavors from moon mountain (collision coure and comet), one of which (comet) which tasted great in the store, but almost no flavor in my liquid-fillable cigalike. I read the battery life is pretty bad but I would like to try it. I am getting it for virtually the price of the tank, anyway. Is it a good tank?

Bought one for a friend of mine and so far no complaints about it- she went from a pack a day+ to an occasional cigarette here or there every few days, all overnight. I wouldn't be happy with it myself, only because I have better gear capable of 100w. But not bad for being a low priced simple mod. Careful about the tank base getting stuck on the battery though, I think that's caused by the top fill system and tightening the top too much. I ended up using pliers to get it off for her and scratched up the paint a bit.

Thanks for the tip! I have been using a cigalike with a refillable "tank" but I just am not satisfied with it after going liquid shopping at a b&m that almost exclusively sells dripping stuff. I got to try some great eliquid on a... whatever you call it. It was dripped. I don't think that is the method for me since it goes through so much liquid, and I don't need that much vapor, but it was certainly much more enjoyable and flavorful than my cigalike. I got home with these delicious liquids and realize how muted the taste is in my little mistic bridge. I used to vape on an aerotank or nautilus on an itaste vv3 I think it was, and ego-style vv, and was shopping for an itaste vv4 and debating what tank to get when I happened upon this subvod and thought I'd give it a shot. How do you think this would compare in terms of flavor and vapor, compared to an itaste vv with aerotank or nautilus?

I've never used a nautilus or aerotank, but anything in the ego-style range is going to give you performance in equal to ~10 watts max- The Subvod seems to equal to 20-25w or so, and it seems to work well. Flavor is pretty great, doesn't seem muted at all (for what it is!), and that's coming from me, usually dripping at ~75 watts or so. It is best suited for direct lung inhales, although you could probably do mouth to lung with the airflow closed way down. Pretty good airflow and clouds for being fairly low powered, I really can't say anything for battery life because I haven't vaped on it extensively. You can however vape while charging, and it charges from a standard mini usb cable. In my honest opinion, it's great for the price. You could spend more and pick up the Subox nano and have adjustable wattage up to 50w, but that's totally up to you. Or even an Istick 30w and subtank nano. But if you just want to dip your toes into sub-ohming, it's a good starting point. If you really like it, you can always move up, if not, you aren't out too much. I started with ego style pens, moved up to an Istick 30w and Subtank Nano, then decided I really liked clouds and flavor, and bought a Sigelei 100w plus and Arctic tank, then picked up a dripper/rda I really like. I'm pretty happy where I'm at, but eventually may try something new. Not into mech mods myself, I want something idiot proof lol. Sometimes I can't even figure that out! I've been eyeing the Eleaf Ijust2 for a while, which is basically a mech mod with idiot protection, looks like it would be good for out and about, where my Sigelei is heavy and bulky.

Can I use 50/50 liquids in this device? I know people mosly use vg liquid when dripping, what kind of liquids can I do with sub-ohming on this device?
The Kanger 0.5Ω SSOCC coils will wick juices up to 80% VG pretty well; 50/50 juices will be fine if that's what you have. Less cloud and a little more throat hit from the PG, just to be aware.

You can use any liquids you like in it, though 50/50 may feel harsher on your throat than say a 70vg/30pg or 80/10 liquid will. Some like that, some don't. When I started sub ohming I really only vaped max vg, anything even 70/30 would make me cough up a lung. Now I can vape pretty much any mix and be fine with it. What mg nicotine do you use on your cigalike? Probably want to drop it down when you get better equipment! I use mainly 6mg at 40-80w, but could see a need for something stronger in a cigalike or ego style unit. Some only use 1.5 mg when sub ohming and some use zero nic. I can't see a point in that, but to each his own I guess. I want to feel something, not that there's anything wrong with thick delicious clouds!

I have 12 mg liquid and plan on dropping down to 3 when the device comes, although I will try my current liquids in it. My local b&m was clearancing out moon mountain, 15 ml bottles for $5 so I got Comet (crunchberry cereal) and collision course (cinnamon dessert) which are delicious, collision course is in 12mg and Comet is 0 since they only had 0 and 18. I may go back and buy a 0mg collision course, if they have it, in order to mix to a lower nicotine, and the 18mg comet to mix in a little nic also. As for other future purchases I am looking at ecblend's 100% vg organic liquids, since I suspect I may be sensitive to pg. I also have a lot of allergies and have noticed I am allergic to some flavors, so I want to try hypoallergenic liquids. What 100% vg "natural/ hypoallergenic/organic" vendors do you suggest? I prefer higher vg but can't use it in my cigalike since it will gunk up the coils real quick.
