Close to 50 years of smoking cigarettes (hand-rolled un-filtered) ended last Friday (April 23) at 1 pm. That was the date and time my Janty Ego arrived. The end of analog began the week before when I was speaking to my auto mechanic (heavy smoker) and he let me take a drag of his new Blu. I liked it, and could see i could get into vaping, but I wasn't too fond of all the plastic on the Blu. I went home to do my research and learned a lot from reading this forum.....thanks to all! The Ego seemed to garner almost unanimous praise here, so I ordered it. I haven't had the desire to smoke even one cigarette since then..........pretty incredible if you ask me.
However, as with most of my interests (vintage audio gear, motorcycles, fountain pens), I never seem to be satisfied unless I've sampled quite a few different items. So I ordered a joyetech 510, but I was not impressed. Even though it uses the same 510 atty as the Ego, I'm guessing the weaker battery just doesn't cut it for me. Plus the constant re-charging is a pain. The Ego goes all day, and I charge it overnight. The vapor and throat hit are great.
Now I'm looking at the Screwdriver........I'm taken both with the old-school industrial look, and with the completely mechanical operation (less to break). Also, the readily available batteries make it an attractive option due to the possible NY ban.
I can't decide however if I should get the original Screwdriver from Trog or the newer MKII from Totally Wicked. Both are having sales right now.
As I understand it, the Trog SD comes with the atomizer fitting of your choice, while the TW MKII only comes with a 901 fitting. I've read that the 901, while not providing as good a TH does make for a more flavorful vape. I know I can get an adapter to attach 501s, but I'd like to keep this as simple as possible. The finish (silver) of each is different.....the MKII from TW looks more like chrome, while the Trog version is more like stainless steel. I'm worried that, in person, the MKII might appear to be shiny plastic. Also, there have been some disappointing comments regarding TW customer service recently, so that is a factor as well.
For anyone who has experienced both versions of the SD, your input is more than welcome. :D

Congratz!

Sorry I am not a SD kinda' guy and cannot speak to your questions.

Did wonder if you looked at the Chucks since they are built tough and you get to pick the exterior finish. I was leaning toward one after getting bored with my homemade mod even though it could take more vaping than any 10 510 batteries without breaking a sweat.

I then discovered The Precious and couldn't resist getting one, but it is a long wait as they are handmade too, but the switch that is not a switch was the kicker. The electronics geek in me had to have it.

Good luck with your battery mod choice.

(Maybe if I bump this a SD person can give you an answer to your question.)
