I want to get some from the store to use with my DIY juice. I have seen Sucralose sold as Splenda and Stevia sold as In The Raw brands. It seems there are generic brands for each of them too. Some of these have other additives. For Stevia I think In The raw has the least additives if memory serves.

Which one is better to use?

After I choose one, how do I mix it and what do I mix it with?

Also whats Eythol Malto ?

Sucralose should not be used. It decomposes at ~125C whereupon it emits (carbon dioxide, methane and) hydrogen chloride (a strong acid; the one in the stomach).

I'd say the best option is ethyl maltol (smells like caramel). It doesn't vaporise but seems to get carried out of the atomiser / cartomizer in the mist droplets ('spat out'). Some may carbonise on and near the heater coil; not sure if any hazards in that, but it will shorten the atty/carto life and may also lead to bad taste/smell. But used sparingly it's probably the safest, afaik, though the MSDS does suggest to avoid heating.

EDIT : Ethyl Maltol has a BP of 161C according to Wikipedia (didnt see a figure in seceral MSDSs though, which is odd). In this case, seems a safe bet, afaik.

EZ-sweetz is made from Sucralose, A few threads suggest Sucralose like Stevia can be bitter but some newer liquids don't have a bitter taste. I know Splenda is yucky on the aftertaste. Can anyone confirm that EZ-Sweetz does not have any aftertaste?

I use ez-sweetz in my tea and kool-aide I don't think it has an after taste but maybe I'm just used to it

I use ez-sweets in my coffee and e-juices. I don't notice an aftertaste, but I've heard aftertaste with the different artificial sweeteners can be an individual (genetic) thing.

One thing I'll point out... there are several different sizes of ez-sweetz. The smaller bottles are 2x the concentration of the larger bottles. For example the 0.5 oz bottles are 1 drop per serving, and the 2.0 oz bottles are 2 drops per serving. A serving is supposed to be equivalent to a packet of sweetener. Just thought I'd point that out to anyone buying it, as it took me about 2 months to notice. :D I buy the 2.0 oz bottle, and that concentration works well for sweetening juices. I think the 2x concentrated ones might have to be diluted first or you'd risk making the juice too sweet, especially with smaller batches. JMO.

Do they say that on the site?

Agreed. I'm quite concerned to think that the juice I'm using could have Sucralose or similar used to sweeten it, given the huge problems it has caused for many. Those using it might want to Google/youTube. There is a chance it is mostly scaremongering, but I've seen enough claims and concerns to purposely try to avoid it at this point. :| ...and that's coming from a fan of soda and Crystal Light. :(

There's a new soda drink in the states that uses Stevia.. Apparently quite good, although never tried it as I don't go there much... Got all the classic mock ups like Cream Soda, Mountain Dew, Cola etc... Looked alright when I was doing some health research, I came across it.

Thing is, if I was looking for a sugar alternative for my coffee, I'd choose Stevia.

But we are talking vaping here - inhalation and higher temps than 100C. It;s a different ball-game. From my research, I'd suggest that Ethyl Maltol is the safest option (in fact, the only one I would use).

Just as VG is perfectly safe in your coffee, but suspect, imo, for use in vaping (above say 20% anyway). Depends on a number of factors, but I definately get nasty burnt smells from VG juices (~50%) that I dont get from PG liquids on the same device. PG is heat stable; VG is not. Neither are sucralose or the other artificial sweeteners. Sure, the amounts are small; just saying what I think is best based on the chemistry involved.

With the possible exception of diacetyl flavorings (butter-like), nothing comes close to the toxins in smoke; nevertheless, still worth looking at what is better.

Xylitol's melting point is 93- 95C (199-203F) - I haven't found the decomposition point but I am thinking this would be good! Worth looking into...

Was looking somewaht promising as it has a BP of 260C (a bit high) but no decomposition that I could find in a quick search. However, the MSDSsays 'toxic to lungs'. This is beyond the usual MSDS overkill. So my feeling is it;s a 'no'.

O.k. here's the deal. I dont like the idea of using Sucralose if i can help it. I HATE anything with chloride in it. I pour me a glass of tap water and have to let it sit in open air for at least 12 hours before I can drink it letting the chloride evaporate. I don't swim in a toxic pool of poison either.

I tasted a tiny bit, a few grains of Stevia, In the Raw brand and it was way too sweet with an after taste. I heated up a small unmeasured amount in 3 ml of PG and could not taste the aftertaste but it was not that sweet either and didn't seem to work when added to e=juice.

Next I used one whole packet in 3 ml of PG and 2 ml of water. (seemed the water helped it dissolve, I refuse to use any kind of alcohol in e-juice either so PGA is out) This made a nice sweet thick enough syrup, again with aftertaste but could not taste the aftertaste when vaping. I mixed up and filled a CE2 with my pineapple e-juice at 18 mg nic 20 %VG and 80 % PG, and substituted two drops of PG for two drops of the stevia solution. ( I only always mix using drops) It sweetened a tiny bit which surprised me.. I thought it would have sweetened a lot more. I compared the taste to my pineapple milkshake which is sweet and this i'm trying to duplicate. So my experiments are not quite working out as planned. ( I only have a few drops of my pineapple milkshake and regular pineapple concentrate left before I have to use the Tea concentrates i have)

I cannot find any info on ECF about mixing store bought Stevia in non liquid form and suggestions of amounts to use. I only make small 5 ML batches at a time and i do this every other morning. Been mixing like that using drops for 6 months. Works for me. I'm afraid if i try to make a big batch, I will ruin and waste the juice.

I would try Ethyl Maltol If I can find it in a store locally and cheap but I have not been able to find it, even checked with baking supply companies.

Does anyone know where I can buy Ethyl Maltol at a store? ( Not online, it's going to be a couple of weeks at least before I can order stuff online again)

Be careful with Sucralose - if it is for personal vaping that is fine, but sharing is a different question. There are several that are allergic / get side effects that they do not want from it. I am having trouble finding out juice contents in the market and I am considering DIY just to avoid being subjected to sucralose or any other artificial sweetener.

I have no problem with Stevia. I guess because it is natural - does have an aftertaste that takes a bit getting used to though.
