Ok so I NEED to do something about my smoking, it's not only bad for my health but I'm pretty much going broke at the same time. I've been reading this forum for almost 12 hours now and I'm so confused it's not even funny.

First my background 2 and a half pack a day smoker, I need something that will take me through my day but at the sametime being a girl and all I don't want to look like I'm puffing from a stainless steel metal test tube (no offense to anyone).

Mind you this is my attempt to cold turkey quit the regular cigs and give this a try, I need whatever I use to be a few things...

1) Reliable
2) Long lasting (as previously said but can carry around multiple batteries)
3) Re-fillable (preferably not tied down to one store in case of emergency, or in case I run out! see #1)
4) Somewhat on the smaller size, I can deal with something that looks like an extra large 100 but something really thick would just get weird looks especially at work (don't judge me, /cry).

I'd appreciate your help guys, I've read countless threads but everyone seems to recommend something different and I just want to buy the hardware once and do it right the first time if you know what I mean. Also buying from an online source means if it breaks I won't have anything for a few days and that could spell disaster for me.

- Thanks for reading!

Well, your expectations sound pretty tough to meet and you will need to make some compromises, as there is nothing that will meet all of those expectations. First of all, we need to know your budget that you can spend, as that will have a huge impact on what we can recommend.

The cigarette-sized batteries are going to be disappointing to you. They will only last 3-4 hours long on a charge. So you will need 4-5 of them to last you throughout a day. They will also be limited in the type of juice carriers that they can use, requiring frequent replacing because of low e-liquid capacity.

Jump up to the next level, the eGo batteries, and you will gain from 6-13 hours per battery. More options in the juice carriers that have the potential to last you all day.

Unless you have a vape shop in your locality, you will need to order online. Don't buy from a mall kiosk or tobacco store unless you want to get ripped off.

Below is a representation of the smokeless image Volt e-cigarette lineup. They have both the cigalike size and the ego equivalent. Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands

Smokeless Image battery size comparisons.jpg

Since you are reluctant to use a larger device out in public, I recommend getting some of the smaller batteries for outside the home, and then have a 1300 mah Volt X2 (eGo equivalent battery) passthru to use at home. You might consider getting more than one charger for the multiple smaller batteries unless you want to spend your entire evening charging them.

Smokeless Image has two juice vendors to choose from. Figure on consuming 3-5 ml of juice daily. As a heavy smoker, you should start off using at least 24mg of nicotine in your juices.

They do sell the pre-filled flavored cartomizers. However, to save money, buy some empty ones and learn how to fill them yourself with the bottled e-liquids they sell. The website has videos on how to use all of their gear in the lower right side of the home page.

Cartomizers can be refilled a few times, but can not reasonably be re-used after that and must be discarded. Figure on a cartomizer lasting a few days. There are also the Nano clearomizer that also can be used instead of a cartomizer, and actually might be easier to fill with liquid.

The larger batteries can hold larger capacity juice carriers like clearomizers and mini Vivi Nova Tanks.

I know I'm not easy to please, I'm sorry.

Budget? I spend 12 dollars on a pack of cigarettes 3 times a day, I'm pretty sure that's not really an issue although I don't really want to buy a 500 dollar kit but I'm flexible there.

I'll definitely check out the volts, maybe I can buy a slim starter kit for work and keep a x2 at the house. I was looking at the site earlier today as a matter of a fact.

That 4th battery from the left doesn't seem too bad, I don't want it to look exactly like a cigarette at all, just not like a piece of pvc pipe if you know what I mean? Actually none of the batteries in that picture look too bad.

I concur,

Most of your expectations are reasonable except for the appearance, once you start worrying about esthetics you start to lose on all the other things you want, so it becomes a function or fashion choice.

My g/f was worried about the smae thing but I bought her an eGo mini (hot pink) with a vivi Nova and she quit worrying because it was pink. At home she puffs on a few different batteries, but outside, she just takes her pink minis.

edit: saw your reply, the volts aren't the longest lasting, but if you keep one charging while you use the other you'll be OK the problem is the vapor and options (808 is very limited) are somewhat lacking and if you find yourself enjoying vaping they will outdate themselves very soon.

How are those egos working out for her? Any leaks at all? One of (scratch that) my main concern is reliability and you go to a website the first thing they all tell you is how reliable they are. Then you find a real end-user site such as this or you-tube and well... you know.

IMHO buy the real deal Joytech, don't get the imitators. So far they are working great. We use the minis in public only and have a few other batteries at home in who gives a f mode. Ego's don't leak, they are batteries. It's the tanks that might, but again if you buy genuine Vision or genuine Kanger it seems to not be a problem.

I think you may be confusing tanks for batteries. The Ego has a Ego thread which fits any eGo tank and a 510 thread that fits any 510 tank or clearo, if you go the 510 way buy a spacer to help keep it uniform.

This is what I would really recommend for you to get. These are the same size as the largest battery in the first link that I posted:

vivinovamini-twist.jpg pic of an eGo battery and a mini Vivi Nova tank.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE

2 Batteries, 1 Charger, and a USB/Wall Adaptor

spinnerbattery.jpg
Vision eGo Spinner or Joyetech eGo Twist variable voltage batteries.

Appropriate eGo charger and possibly a USB/wall unit to provide the option to charge away from a computer port.

Juice Delivery Devices: I recommend getting two types to try.

single coil cartomizers.jpg
A (5) pack of single coil cartomizers at 2.5-3.0 ohm resistance. You'll also need at least one drip tip (mouth piece) to put on the end of these.

clearomizers.jpg
A couple of clearomizers (Vision or Kanger T3) to try, or...

Listen to Bad, ignore the rest....
Seriously... Pick BAD as a mentor and read ALL of his posts.

Oh and just so you don't feel left out:
A provari and an RBA ! (ignore this part).

Welcome and good luck.

I was a PAD (pack-a-day), I have NOT smoked over 7000 cigarettes since last year.
Don't worry about how many you still smoke, even 1 less per day makes a difference. Start slow and substitute.

Did you see it? That went way, way over my head! lol

I'm sorry noobie here excuse my ignorance Ive been reading about this stuff all day and it's still like reading stereo instructions front to back. I got the part about confusing tanks and batteries but all the different models was a bit confusing. Could you post a link to some real deal, non-knock off hardware? I guess I just need a kick in the right direction and take it slow from there. I've been trying to adsorb all this forum has in a day and I'm realizing that's just NOT going to happen.

I appreciate everyone's help by the way, thank you!

Just get a cheap 40$ vamo that has replaceable batteries and you can change vv/vw and a vivi nova tank. Its a good starter kit that everyone has

If you read the OP's needs and expectations, you'd see that she doesn't want a large mod. Please consider new members expectations, as they may not be the same as yours were when you started out. The Vamo is huge, and would not meet the OP's needs. And no it is not what everyone has.

sorry for the $#!& photo.
lineup.jpg
devices fully assembled with delivery devices (cartos/attys/tanks & tips) attached
Right to Left . King size cigarette, joye-tech e-Roll, kr808d-1 'shortie' (same as short volt), Kr808d-1 'standard' (again same as standard volt), PureSmoker Icon (14500 mech mod with standard 510 atty and a funky drip tip), joyetech eGo-t 'upgrade' (much bigger than a standard eGO, with vivi-nova mini tank), ProVari 18650 version (with AGA-t+ tank).

I would first recommend that you get an 'N-Joy King' disposable to get off cigarets (around $8 at most 7-11 stores, they may sell others, but, the 'N-Joy King is the best disposable available), then decide on a more permanent solution.

I would stay clear of 'The Volt' simply because it is a re-branding of an old connection, kr808d-1, that is becoming less and less available. A standard, 510, eGo would be a better fit (as Baditude said AltSmoke).

If you are looking for something to replace the feel of a real cigarette, I would highly recommend the Joyetech eRoll, it is reasonably priced (between $60 and $80), available in black, stainless or white, and is available from GoodProphets or a multitude of other vendors. And like the smaller Volts, it comes with a charging case that keeps your battery charged through the day.

Hopefully, I didn't fry your brain.

You will find after a while that you don't care what it looks like. Sure I got a few strange looks at work but I don't care. I usually use a Vision Spinner with a Kanger T3. And at home I have my Vamo with a carto tank. I would take my carto tank out but Im afraid it might leak in my case and I never had a problem with the Kangers.

I dont know about everybody else but I also did aloy of research and I still have a drawer filled with old kits that I thought were the best and have moved on:) I think the best advice is to find what appeals to you and try it and remember you'll probally move on too! Compared to the cost of smoking both finacially and physically you will be happier! And drink alot of water when you start vaping! Good luck

Or a high capacity 510 battery, like the ones Madvapes has, at Mega XL 510 Automatic Battery, Blue LED, 350mah

Two or three of those, topped with either cartos or Vivi Nanos - Altsmoke has the best price I've seen on them : AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Nano Clearomizer - 510 Thread

While considerably longer than an analog, the size, shape and action mimic the smoking process, and that might be helpful for the transition.

And juice, of course! No way I'm going to recommend a flavor, as we all have different tastes, but smoking at your level I'd think 24 mg strength would be a good start. If there's a brick and mortar store within your reach, well, most of them will let you try different flavors.

Hey there, I'm new here. Basically I think I might need a new atomiser soon for a GoT (stupidly I only bought one, thinking it would last) and so I'm wondering if the unit itself is available for sale anywhere, or if this is not cool with the powers that be. Just wondering, as it's basically a battery and a heating element - not talking about syrup. Or if there is anything that can take it's place, that I can access? If not it's fine, I can get a replacement in a few months when I leave. Just thought I would ask!

Thanks - J
