Okay, I'll bite - who's Roxy, and what happened?

Theres other vape forums that have a few threads that details it better than most threads on ECF.
Before my time but understanding the events gives you a little incite as to why ECF is the way it is, if you are interested in that sort of thing. I am. There are other events that seem to have shaped it. ECF is a strange place and quite unique in its strangeness, it made me want to know about its history.

Since discretion is the better part of valor, I think I'll refrain from providing any of the details as I know them. But I'll say this: Roxy is by far not the only innovator / big contributor who was made to feel unwelcome by the forum's management.

Huh, apparently I'm in the minority to consider ECF excellent and not in a state of decline? This place to me is a vibrant community for vapers who are interested in refining their skill and enjoying each other's company. It's a repository of knowledge and a museum that reminds us where we came from. Most social sites are cesspools of worthless opinions made with no accountability, and they become that way by lowering the barrier to entry to any fool with two thumbs and a smartphone. I appreciate how ECF members actually enjoy the art of writing and storytelling, and how the moderators curate posting to promote quality. And I especially appreciate that we—the members—are treated as knowledgeable experts, not eyeballs to be monetized. Vendors and advertisers do not get free run of the place, they are supplicants with limited privileges, as is fitting.

ECF was a lifesaver for me when I quit smoking. I spent hours on here every day. Now it's just a fun place to hang out once in a while. It's the only social media I do. And this is still a great place for old gear heads to yak about gear.

I don't really know but I suspect people who start vaping today don't need so much support. There's a lot more good starter gear available now than there was 5 years ago. People who just want to quit smoking can pick something up that will do the job. If they want to get in deeper they can still come here. And there is bad gear around as well as good so ECF is here to help people who get confused.

I don't think ECF did anything that caused the changes. The customer base changed is what happened.

And like others have said, if the FDA crap comes down hard this forum will be resistance central. ​

Im a little bit tipsy tonite , strange for a monday night. And to make this vape related, i was honking out some clouds at the outside bar tonite. Kentucky is a good place to vape. And i like beer. But probably not beer flavor vape juice. In fact, that would probably be just wrong. I like vaping in Kentucky at an outside bar while drinking beer. God save the queen. Vape on ye olde vapers. Um, thats about all i got right now.

at the other site there seem to be hundreds of people who have been kicked out of here.
i prefer the level of civility here, but some of those people are nice.

A lot of people I bought mods, tanks or kits for, generally a Zenith/Kroma, have progressed to pods. Its that simple to vape. Thats what they want and thats what is working for them to quit smoking.
They arent forum/social media type personalities, they wont ever join a vape forum or visit fb. If they have a question they will phone someone and ask or wait until they see them next. Failing that they might put a query in google search, find the answer and move on.

I haven't been here long, but here's my tuppence worth. I tried some other forum, forii (!) one well known example in the UK is full of confrontational, bullying arsehats.

I like it here, you're mostly all mad but lovely like me.

I'm an owner/sysop on a private specialist tech forum that's been around for over 20 years ( ... could be more, seems like a lifetime), we see ebbs and flows of people, focus, atmosphere, activity etc. It's natural. 8)

I knew it was just a matter of time before measles struck the forum. I hope you're okay. You should hold onto that $20 and work on getting vaccinated, and for what it's worth I've added you to my list of daily anxieties.

Oops, damn autocorrect! Funny though, 2 weeks ago I had my MMR booster vaccination and actually got a mild case of the measles. Rest assured, @Skeebo I am fully recovered

I'll be saving something like $5000 in this, my 6th year of not smoking. I'm in debt to ECF for making that possible, so I'll be maintaining my supporting membership indefinitely.

Although I’ve DEFINITELY gone down the vaping rabbit hole and therefore my savings from vaping are negligible, I still save money every time I DIY my own juice and let’s not forget that it’s PRICELESS that I no longer have COPD. Because of this forum, I didn’t quit in the beginning of vaping, and that is reason enough to support this site. Plus I’ve received countless helpful tidbits and advice worth the donation many times over. Your nic storage thread will undoubtedly save me on no longer storing nic that has become oxidized to the point it’s unvapeable. All my nic is properly stored now.

I don’t post on the recipe forum but lurk from time to time and I’ve seen the same behavior from you over there too. Keep up the good work, @Letitia you’re invaluable!
