Vwls... It may be that the reason you think cartos that sit for days are so good is because the juice is "steeping" in the carto... are you allowing your juices to steep in the bottle for a week or two, or just pulling them from vapemail and using them? Curious.

I've never needed to leave a "pre-holed" carto sit for absorption longer than a few hours. I plug the center hole with the shaft of a Q-Tip, literally fill the carto and let it set... repeat. At this point, the juice is leaking out the side holes and is ready to go. Never a burnt carto... knock on wood. :p... Some like to use the carto "condom" to force the juice into the filler... if you're in a hurry.

Although I own a very nice carto punch, I've never used it. I don't understand why anyone buys blank cartos when holed and slotted cartos are so readily available... unless you like a brand of carto that you can't get with holes. Boge (always available) and Ikenvape (when you can get them) are my favorites.

Consider buying Boge laser holed or slotted cartos. Slotted ones are nice for hi VG juice. SureVapes has nice pricing on 5 5-packs (25 cartos) for about $1.08 per.

That's all I got. Good vaping... with carto tanks of course. ;-)

Great point. I do a lot of DIY, but do order from vendor occasionally. Most of them are made to order juice makers so some steeping helps the flavors come out as well as blend in my experience. I do cheat a little by dripping a little right out of the mailbox though :)

Of course! Don't know many who have the willpower to leave that new juice sitting without testing it as soon as they get their grubby little hands on it.

Oh yeah! Amen!
Fortunately juice takes an average of 20 days to get here, so it has some steeping done. But vapes so much better after a month or so in the fridge!

Hey! I'm not about arguing with you... I'm just saying to each its own. I hold poor memories of cartos, flooded, dry, funny tasting. I prefer bottom coils each time, every time. Not to mention that you can't wash them and put a new flavor, that's if you want to repeatedly boil them... And carto tanks that slip and are messy to refill... No, I want to banish that chapter on vaping completely from my head.
Sorry that you had a lousy experience with your cartos both flooding and being dry - both extremes. I wonder why there are so many people who prefer cartotanks as their primary delivery devices? Perhaps your bad experiences were due to user error, not enough knowledge, or poor choice in equipment.

As to your cartotanks slipping and being messy to fill: You must have had some cheapo Smoktech DCT tanks which are notrious to be slippy slidy. Just watch PBusardo's review - he picks his mod up by the tank and the whole tank slides off the carto and he screams an expletive. :-x A higher quality (and not so much more expensive) tank will not slip and slide. None of my cartotanks slip & slide.

As to cartos or cartotanks being messy to fill, that's all on the user. I've learned to fill my cartos and tanks without spilling any juice with a tooth pick and a tank tool.

Although some folks attempt to clean cartomizers, they are really meant to be disposable - single use and throw them away.

Sometimes some knowledge, experience, and just a little skill is all that is required to have a positive experience with any delivery device.

Please don't mistaken BOLD for RUDE, NICnurse. Susaz has passion. Other than that, I agree with NICnurse, but Susaz wasn't trolling. That's why Baditude & Susaz discussed it out, then Ocey came in to close with a bobo. Needless to say, this thread has probably run its course. Best of luck to you OP, and WELCOME TO ECF! :)

Susaz, you don't need to explain yourself. We all know you are a true & honest vaper, you come to ECF to ask for help and give help to others. You are a seasoned vaper, too. Then you come to be supportive and social because the best vape setup in the world is the one that keeps you from lighting up, and that setup is different for everyone. Anything above and beyond that is gravy!

I respect Susaz and she is my friend. I respect Baditude and he is my friend, too. And for my stalkers, I'd like to think I have everything from clearos 'to cartos, like most of us who are privilaged. I see a place for all of them, it's up to you to decide which you hate the least. I can't wait for a no wick no wire solution one day. Damn Phil.

I don't let them sit that long really when I do it. I order my punched Boge XL Low Res cartos from Surevapes.com . I use a cheap boge f16 carto tank for now with them (for juice that doesn't crack tanks).

The flanged boge cartos punched are not as good as the non flanged ones imho. I open the carto and cut the top off of the condom I don't use to fill (makes a tiny sleeve, or ring that is open on both ends). I place the sleeve on the carto and cover the two holes with it. Fill the large condom up 70% with juice and use the mouth end to fill (do not remove the rubber mouthpiece just yet). Push the carto down and squeeze the condom, not letting any juice leak out of the battery end.

A couple of minutes later the juice is saturated the carto. Blow through carto mouth end to make the hole in center clear. Take the condom off , then sleeve, place in tank and fill tank. Once its filled I move the carto up and take out the silly mouthpiece that comes with it and slap a drip tip on it.... I will then try and cut off all air and take two to three strong pulls without power and see if bubbles appear out the holes. Once that stops you're good to go. My two cents.

I attribute it to luck mostly. Why 2 people buy the same from same vendor and don't get the exact same results? Talking absolutes where taste is the only subjective. It could have been anything, but you can't deny that my gripes are the gripes of most people that vaped carto tanks and stopped. Some people don't mind and some do.

Also fiddly things made me quit last time. I agree with Busardo that new vapers are very lucky, having so much at their disposal. Is it necessary to go on endorsing an obsolete technology? I attribute it to people that don't want to evolve and forgo the drawbacks to justify not evolving.

Why can't these cartotank companies laser drill LARGER holes. We're not vaping water afterall. Someone call China and get them on the ball. /rant

Maybe because larger holes are not often needed? Most juices wick just fine with one or two holes. All-pg juices do great with a single hole; two (or a larger hole) likely will result in flooding the carto with those especially thin juices. 50/50 pg/vg does great with two laser-drilled holes. Smoktech makes some 3 hole cartos for thicker juices.

I know you vaped Boba's Bounty almost exclusively when you used cartotanks. And you had issues with the cartos clogging up prematurely. Some extremely thick juices will not work well with cartos or string wicked delivery devices. That's why I suggested that you either try dripping or a bottom feeder box mod. And now you sing praises for your Reo, because a bottom feeder is the best solution for those kinds of juices.

Boge does make some cartos with larger holes if you are looking for some. Electronicstix sells them. ElectronicStix.Com · Single Boge 510 Blank Laser Punched Cartomizer For Tank Systems. I've seen some sold elsewhere that have even larger holes, too.

That's why I used the Busardo technique of slashing through cartos... Specially if you use XL flanged that don't get moist through and through. Try thinning your juice and priming the carto...

I agree to disagree with you. Two people use the same equipment and get different results because of different factors in play. Assuming they are using the exact same juice, the varying factors would be a different technique used (one works better than the other's) or user error in some form or fashion. That can be the only explanation.

Most people who give up on cartotanks didn't have the knowledge of using a proven techique and following it to the letter, or were using poor equipment with a resulting poor performance and experience.
Sometimes it can be as simple as adjusting one's technique of their draw on a cartotank. Most often it is the result of not priming the carto correctly. I've guided scores of new cartotank users through their trials, and the vast majority end up enjoying their tanks.

I've been using cartotanks almost exclusively for 15 months. They give me fuller flavor of my juices, are more consistant and dependable than clearomizers, and are maintainance free. These work for ME.

Obsolete technology? I think not. I've done the RBA route. When they are working at their optimum, there's not a finer vape. But I find them to be inconsistant and fiddly, just as you found cartotanks. It's all about finding what works best for you. I don't appreciate people who dog a particular way of vaping because it didn't work for them. You can share information with others that it didn't work for you, but ridiculing people who get a great vape using something you don't like serves no positive purpose here.

" (You know come to think of it if Provape were bold enough they would create a 33.3mhz chip single 5-click button function bottom-feeder or a dna12/20 VW bottom feeder to compete with the best, most time-tested & fully supported bottom feeder of 'em all in my opinion, Reosmods.) "

Well, Provape's chipset uses an 800mHz chip in the Provari, which many owners believe allows for a better vape. I've said myself that I'd love to see Provape create a bottom feeder box mod of the quality of a Provari. Will I live to see that day - probably not.

Oh I certainly do not think Susaz is a troll at all.....she has been a member here for a long time....and is what I would call a veteran vaper such as myself. My response is not meant to be insulting; rather, it was a friendly reminder for all of us (myself included) to take a step back and pause sometimes before posting. To just consider how what you are typing can come across and how it sounds. Especially since inflection and tone are easily misunderstood in the typed forum world.

When vapers come here and are new to the game, they are excited and giddy and thrilled when they find something that works good for them. I do not think the OP meant any disrespect with their title about superiority of cartos. It is simply what is superior to them. And I personally agree......to me, cartos with a tank are the preferred method of vaping. Just my opinion.

I look at it this way. I am a carto and tank user. I have tried to use many BCC's and to me the flavor is meh and they are finnicky little buggers. So I prefer cartos and tanks. BUT.....there are numerous posts everyday from vapers that profess their undying vaper love for BCC's and RBA's. ANd that is fantastic! But I do not go into those forums and post negative opinions about their preferred method of vaping. I read what they write and move along my merry way.

I have been a member here for 3 years.....and I am a true vaper as well. I ask for help and I help others. I also believe in playing nice in the sandbox. And that if you have nothing nice to say, sometimes it is best to just say nothing at all.

Then whats this 33.3 I hear Phil talking about and around ecf whenever there's a heated thread about vv vs vv/vw because whenever I'm not using a Reo (usually because Im in genny land with my zattypro) I always wondered why Provape decided against making a new Provari SVD, surely it couldn't do any worse than their corney passthrough:)

Nearly every one of the regulated mods of Chinese origin use the simpler, cheaper, and less advanced 33.3 mHz chipset. Some people are able to hear this waveform as a "rattlesnake" sound. The Provari Accuset chipset is a more advanced, more expensive, military-grade processor. It is the difference of this chip from the 33.3 mHz chip which likely ellicits remarks from some Provari owners that the Provari vapes smoother than their other regulated devices. Not everyone experiences it nor can they tell an appreciable difference, but many do.

I just know that if I had all of my mods laid out on a table ready to go, 90% of the time I will grab one of my Provari's because I prefer the vape I get from them. It's difficult to qualify exactly why this is so, but it is the truth. I can only guess it has something to do with the 800 mHz chip and the Accuset chip's ability to provide this precisely and consistantly from the time a fresh battery is put in until it needs replaced. I don't experience this with my other regulated mods, and wouldn't expect it from a mechanical mod due to it's performance depending completely upon the battery's declining voltage as it is used.

I'll agree with you about the pass through, it had me scratching my head when they introduced it.

My thoughts are this... if you're on Provape's site, its for one thing and one thing alone, and that's to deal with a provari.... nothing else. Why they even offer a pass through is completely beyond me.

It'd be like going to REOSmods and looking for a BCC.... its a piece of tech that really just doesn't fit with "why" you're there.

I "like" my Innokin's iTaste SVD but I "trust" Provape's Provari Mini. It's only natural when you love something so much, you hope they incorporate features or enhancements you "like" about other mods down the road. If I had a hand in Provape's R&D I would think of 3 upgrades to suggest for the next line of Provari's:

i. Somehow find a military grade chipset that does VV/VW.
ii. Add ego cone threading in addition to 510 for our clearo brothers 'n sisters.
iii. Make a telescoping mini to handle 18350, 18490, 18650, and 18350's stacked.

These lack of features do not stop me from using my provari, though. And most of them can be made up with aftermarket parts or accessories like adaptors. Regardless, someone over at Provape musta been smoking something illegal when they came up with the Passthrough :lol

That would be an 800Hz chip, not 800Mhz.

The Chinese mods use 33Hz, not 33Mhz.
