Frustrating! Ang, Matt from the other KFL thread had someone do a hot-cold-hot-cold-hot-cold sequence. Maybe get some water boiling and also a bowl of ice water Dunk it in one for 20 seconds then the other for 20 seconds and repeat for a few cycles. That shrink/expand action should loosen it up. Just don't dunk anything non metallic. I'm assuming the parts that are stuck are all metal?

There's an o-ring in the middle...

This is as far as I could get it apart. The JC ring and svoemesto ring (where they meet) are stuck. My fingers are seriously bright red and hurt so bad trying to twist them apart. LOL I will try the hot/cold/hot/cold tomorrow and buying one of those grip pads. This seriously should not be screwed on this tight. It's ridiculous.

I've had my clone lock that tight. Water pump pliers on the logo ring, and a screwdriver in the hole worked.

I think it was my fault - I'm not sure the JC was fully open. I feel for you, having it happen right out the box.

Ice the whole thing down and then just stick the chimney in hot water. Ice shrinks the inner threads and heat will expand the outer threads. Remember juice control open. Good luck.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Well, the o-ring should be ok. Besides, what does she have to lose? Just replace it if it gets wrecked. I assume they have spare parts??? But I suspect it will be OK.

The cold/hot method won't hurt the o-rings at all.

It shouldn't. I boiled some Vivi Nova pieces (a long time ago) and it wrecked the gaskets on them. But I think the o-rings should be OK.

Don't need to boil them, just use really hot tap water. That should work.

May I repeat it for Angie:

Stuck Chimney: How to Dislodge

1. Doubly/triply ensure that the JC is fully "open"
2. Attach the K4 on a mech mod* (I suggest mech mod for a reason!)
3. Keep the tank section/segments intact on the chimney**
4. Tighten the Retainer Nut (under the top cap) a little more than you'd usually do
5. Place the above (K4 with a mod) in your deep freezer for 10-15 minutes
6. Remove it, put a micro screwdriver*** (or similar OD item) into the air hole nearest to the SM logo
7. Grab the K4's base alongwith the knurled ring with one hand keeping your thumb resting on the micro screwdriver
8. Hold the chimney base (SM logo section) with your other hand keeping your thumb on the SM logo****
9. Now firmly holding the base section (left hand) try turning the chimney section with a sudden twist (right hand)

The top part and the base of the K4 should come apart!

*Makes it easier to grab the K4's base with the knurled airflow ring
**Makes it easier to grab the top section (chimney & tank) of the K4
***Gives you added leverage while rotating the opposing sections
****Helps you with grabbing the chimney section firmly

Thanks my friend. Gonna give it another whirl a little later. My fingers are still killing me. I am going to try and wrap a rubber band around the logo and grip that instead of the metal. I may use pliers if needed but only around the rubber band bcoz I'd freak if I scratch this thing.

Also going to buy those grip pad things today to get more leverage. It's sitting in the freezer, again, right now.

FINALLY GOT IT OFF!!!! Hallelujah! Going to wash this thing up and use Chapstick or something on these dang orings! Thanks for all the tips and help folks.

If anyone else comes across this, I HIGHLY recommend a thick, flat type of rubber band on the SvoeMesto logo/ring to grip! Oh, and if using a 16 g Luer lock needle to put in the JC hole, it will bend. LOL

I use duct tape, I strip off the correct width for each section involved and wrap it numerous time around each piece. The more you build it up the more leverage you will get. I then place the "used" pieces back on the roll for next time. On a couple of occasions I did use pliers over the tape to grip it. This has always worked for me.
