Agreed! Though everyone should learn to wick in the most efficient manner (imho)... if you can wick max VG... max PG won't be a prob.

If you can wick max VG you can wick motor oil. I. E. You can wick anything! Just kidding folks, don't vape motor oil!

Wait! That's it! The KFL thread was being bombed by anti clone guys some time ago and I was sick of it so I unsubscribed and kept this as my only connection to kayfun owners!

Am I developing Alzheimer or just excess cheese consumption?

:)

There's a Kayfun clone thread you know.

Yep, I'm on the fence on this one, too, as far as do I want the authentic. One of my clones has had no issues of any kind. It just works perfectly. And I'm vaping high vg as well without issue. The other needed a lot of work, but it is working. The previous kayfuns were priced so one could own an authentic. This one is pretty steep although quite a bit of work went into it. However, that's also what bugs me. Its a pain to break down and reassemble. I have several other attys that vape as well or better that are much simpler.

I'm beginning to think it's got too many parts. Somebody missed the "kiss" principle.

And I also made a Clone Vs Authentic thread where those who want to slug it out can go.

If my Rayon wicks don't touch the deck it WILL NOT keep up at 30ish watts. And the wick tails must be pretty large, too. I hate the juice flow on this thing, but I absolutely love the flavor.

Unfortunately if you read the specs on the V4 it's not designed for that high a wattage. That's why it has a hard time keeping up.

Agreed, but after multiple attemps of rewicking, I gave up and tried the top cap open quickly method and it worked. And there's (as you can read) conflicting tips on more wick, less wick, long tails, short tails so I guess that's what makes it a bit confusing.

I tried less wick and more and no luck so I'm thinking length is possibly the issue. My first Kayfun so I'm trying to figure it out. It's quite a bit more "fussy" than most toppers I have and most that I have need less wick versus more. Funny thing is, my 1st set up worked awesome. It was when I rebuilt/rewicked I got the issues. And probably bcoz I haven't made a build above .70 ohms in a long time so I'm a bit rusty w/higher ohm coils.

But when it is set up right, it's awesome.

I hate to say this but, I think it's better to start with a Kayfun Lite than jump right into the V4. In my opinion the V4 is much more "fiddly" than the Lite.

Yes but I left because I didn't like the atmosphere, not because I have or don't have a clone.

I left because I didn't like the discussion. Why would I put myself in the center of another one? I had enough fights in the last couple of days. I'm still on probation until the 22nd so I'm not getting myself into another fight right now :)

LMAO...your advise is always good...and late. No worries, I usually do everything backwards and not gonna give up. It's vaping great right now and very happy with it. I will get this wicking stuff down, eventually.

We all give good advice because we didn't follow them ourselves :D

My first ever coil was done on a kayfun mini V2.1

If you think a kfl has a tiny deck, imagine a kf mini.... Man was I stupid lol.

It did work quite nicely though :)

I think the smallest deck I've worked on so far is my Chalice's. They are super small, but I have yet to have a bad vape on them. Not a single dry hit, gurgle...nothing but awesome vaping.

Oh wait, the first time I used the Chalice III, I did short out my REO  But no issues since and zero issues w/Chalice II. I actually prefer smaller decks/chambers but I'm a MTL hitter.

And working with the Sophia & Drippor Pro ceramic cups are PITAs.

Can kinda see, & somewhat agree, with this. But it depends on one's perspective & experience. If you're coming from genesis attys, or some rda's, the V4 is a piece of cake. If your only experience is bottom fed tanks with store bought heads, yea, wouldn't recommend a kayfun.

Angie, everyone is diff and has their opinions, so here's mine. V4 gets better and better as you get used to the controls, the wicking for me is way more simple than the Kfl, as is building and filling. Vape quality is close, but for a mtl vaper like me, the airflow beats it easily. You have more experience than I on wicking, so maybe this is of no value, but I like to trim and place a wet wick on the V4, then screw the barrel on and finish assembly.

I've tried everything. 10 different builds, different coils, and wicks. It sucks no matter what I do.

I officially give up. My K3.1 gives me better flavor and I don't have to be a rocket scientist to make it work. This thing is going on the shelf along with the other failure tanks.

I have been using my K4 all day now, I coiled it last night, just like I do all my KFL's, on a 5/64" drill bit 30 ga kanthol 2.2 ohm coil. The deck is slightly larger then I am used to. It was shipped missing one of the 4 coil screws, so I just took one more of the screws off, and put it with the extras that I bought. I do a rather different style of wicking than most people do, I go threw the coil with 3mm silica, and over the top of the coil, with a small piece of twisted cotton down to the deck, in a kind of "Z" pattern. I never had a dry hit, and the flavor is slightly better, then on my KFL's. The air flow is a bit more open than I am used to. I just turned it up a bit to compensate for that, so far I am liking it. It is going to take some getting used to though, I keep forgetting that clockwise is open, and I love the top fill, it is so easy. I am loving the glass tank section, I am using the all ss tanks on most of my KFL's, just because I am kind of hard on them. At the moment I have had no problems. :)
